The JB Marks Local Executive Team (LET) continues its commitment to building cleaner and safer communities through the Letsema Monday Programme. This week’s focus is on Ward 01, where community members will unite for the cleaning of an illegal dumping site next to Mr B.

Community in Action
Illegal dumping has become a persistent challenge in many neighborhoods, posing health hazards, damaging the environment, and diminishing the beauty of public spaces. The Letsema Monday initiative, rooted in collective action, seeks to tackle such issues head-on. By mobilizing residents, leaders, and volunteers, the programme creates sustainable change through hands-on community service.
The Role of Ward 01
Ward 01 has been identified as a priority area due to the growing dumping problem in the vicinity. The clean-up operation will not only restore cleanliness but also encourage responsible waste disposal practices among residents. This initiative serves as a reminder that environmental care is a shared responsibility.
Coordination and Participation
The programme is coordinated by Zaza Sokhweba (BET Coordinator), who has urged residents to actively participate in this effort. Community members are encouraged to bring their energy, tools, and a spirit of unity to ensure the success of the operation.

Building on the Freedom Charter
This year marks 70 years of the Freedom Charter, a historic document that continues to inspire movements towards equality, dignity, and improved living conditions. The Letsema Programme embodies this spirit by transforming communities and reaffirming the belief that “The People Shall Share in the Country’s Wealth” including the wealth of a clean, safe environment.
Looking Ahead
The success of Ward 01’s clean-up will serve as a model for other wards to follow. The JB Marks LET hopes that such initiatives will inspire lasting change, fostering a culture of responsibility, pride, and active citizenship.
Together, through Letsema, residents are proving that when communities rise together, progress is unstoppable.
