Residents of Ikageng were left in disbelief this morning after a minibus taxi plunged into a deep excavation at the "First Stop" intersection between Mapetla and Defense.
The dramatic scene has sparked heated discussions among locals regarding safety protocols at construction sites within the township.

The Scene at First Stop
The incident occurred during the early morning commute, a peak time for local transport. The white taxi appears to have driven into a large, unpaved trench in the center of the road.
Recovery Efforts: A large Rondebult yellow excavator was positioned directly over the vehicle, attempting to assist in the recovery or stabilize the surrounding earth.
The Hazard: The hole, which occupies a significant portion of the roadway, appears deep enough to have almost fully submerged the front half of the minibus.
Current Status
Traffic: The road between Mapetla and Defense remains heavily congested as heavy machinery occupies the lanes to extract the vehicle.
Injuries: While the vehicle sustained significant damage, no fatalities have been reported as of mid-morning.
Motorists in Ikageng are urged to use alternative routes and exercise extreme caution near construction zones, as many roads remain unpredictable following recent maintenance work.
