Matlosana Conducts Critical Infrastructure and Service Delivery Operations Across the City

The City of Matlosana has undertaken a series of essential infrastructure and service delivery activities across multiple communities on Monday, 10 November 2025. The work forms part of an accelerated programme implemented by the municipality’s Technical and Infrastructure Directorate, in accordance with directives from the Executive Mayor and Council.

Road Grading and Repairs Across Several Areas

Road maintenance featured prominently in the day’s operations. The municipality confirmed that road grading and repair work was carried out in the following areas:

• Strawberry Street, Jouberton – grading and repair activities

• Tigane Extension 5 and 6 – grading of internal roads

• Kanana Extension 14 – road grading conducted by the Roads Department

In addition, the department is preparing for pothole repair operations in Uraniaville, where assessment and preparatory work is currently underway.

Stormwater and Sewer Infrastructure Maintenance

Maintenance teams also focused on improving stormwater flow and sewer-related infrastructure. The following work was completed:

• Cleaning of stormwater catch pits in Kanana and Wilkoppies’ Readman area

• Sewer Department operations involving the cleaning of sumps at various pump stations

These activities are part of ongoing efforts to ensure that stormwater and wastewater systems function effectively, particularly ahead of the rainy season.

Community Services Expands “Love Your City” Campaign

The Community Services Department continued its citywide Love Your City Campaign, targeting illegal dumping sites for cleanup. The campaign aims to improve urban hygiene, reduce environmental hazards, and encourage community involvement in keeping public spaces clean.

Illegal dumping hotspots across Matlosana are receiving attention as part of this initiative, with teams deployed to remove waste and restore affected areas.

Final Thoughts

The latest round of infrastructure work reflects Matlosana’s broader service delivery programme, which includes road maintenance, stormwater improvements, sewer system cleaning, and urban environment restoration. The municipality has indicated that these activities form part of an accelerated plan to improve essential services across all communities.
