The Directorate of Planning and Human Settlements in the City of Matlosana has confirmed that housing projects previously stalled in Jacaranda, Ward 15 are moving forward. A service provider currently on site has completed renovations on 45 houses, with improvements including roofing repairs, vinyl flooring installations, and foundation cement work.

The contractor is working toward completing the remaining 45 houses by the end of September 2025, signaling a significant step in restoring progress to the long-delayed housing initiative.

Expansion Planned for October
Once the current phase is complete, the project will expand to additional sections in October 2025, bringing similar upgrades to more households. The phased approach is designed to address immediate housing needs in Jacaranda while preparing for broader rollout across the city.

Leadership Perspective
According to the Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Planning and Human Settlements, Councillor Portia Mtshawulana, the progress represents more than just physical upgrades. She emphasized that completed homes can restore dignity, create stability, and bring renewed hope to residents who have been waiting for improvements.

Community Impact
For the Jacaranda community, the renovations mean safer, more livable homes and a stronger sense of security. With completion timelines set for September and an expansion phase scheduled for October, the initiative highlights the municipality’s efforts to unlock stalled housing projects and improve living conditions for residents.
