🥕 Platform for Emerging Farmers and SMMEs

The day-long market attracted a wide array of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMMEs) and emerging farmers from across the Matlosana municipal area. It offered a crucial retail opportunity for entrepreneurs to exhibit their diverse merchandise, which spanned beyond traditional agricultural goods.

  • Diverse Exhibits: Products showcased included fresh produce, prepared foods, clothing, fashion accessories, and perfumes, highlighting the variety of small businesses operating in the region.

  • Direct-to-Consumer Model: The event was designed to bypass intermediaries, allowing small-scale farmers and SMMEs to gain direct exposure to local community members and foster relationships with potential buyers from both the public and private sectors. Attendees included local residents, government authorities, and representatives from the private sector.

📈 Message of Support Emphasizes Economic Growth

The Municipal Committee Member (MMC) for Local Economic Development, Cllr Wesley Kgang, attended the event and delivered a key address, underscoring the market's significance for local development.

In his message of support, Cllr Kgang characterized the Farmers Market as the genesis of genuine commerce. He noted that the initiative directly contributes to local economic development by providing a concrete opportunity for participants to:

  • Showcase Products: Presenting goods to a broad audience.

  • Grow Income: Generating direct sales and increasing revenue streams.

  • Develop Businesses: Building brand awareness and testing market demand.

Cllr Kgang concluded by encouraging the participating entrepreneurs to maintain and strengthen their efforts, positioning their businesses as vital contributors to the broader economic interests of Matlosana.
