Merafong City Concludes Transport Month with Major Roads and Stormwater Project Handover

Merafong City Local Municipality ended Transport Month 2025 on a high note with the official handover of the completed Roads and Stormwater Project (Phase 8A) in Khutsong Ward 2. The event, led by Executive Mayor Cllr Nozuko Best, marked a significant step forward in improving local infrastructure and advancing the Re-Imaging Merafong Vision 2035.

Leadership and Participation:
The milestone ceremony was attended by key municipal leaders, including MMC for Roads, Stormwater and Public Works Cllr Disebo Tabane, supported by MMC for Health and Social Development Cllr Tibane, MMC for Integrated Environmental Management Cllr Sekgakweng, and Ward 2 Councillor Mnqandi. Their presence highlighted the City’s united effort toward enhancing service delivery and community development through sustainable infrastructure investment.
Commitment to Sustainable Development:
The Roads and Stormwater Project (Phase 8A) is a tangible reflection of Merafong’s vision to create safe, accessible, and well-connected communities. By improving local road networks and stormwater systems, the municipality aims to reduce flooding risks, support mobility, and improve the overall quality of life for residents.
While Phase 8A has been successfully completed, work on Phase 8B is already in progress. This continuation ensures that more communities within Merafong will soon benefit from upgraded, durable, and environmentally conscious road infrastructure.
