Two giants of South African rugby, Siya Kolisi and Dr. Rassie Erasmus, stood side by side in Potchefstroom this week, not on a rugby field but at the unveiling of two new student residences at North-West University (NWU). The event was more than just an honorific ceremony—it was a moment of reflection on leadership, perseverance, and the far-reaching impact of sport beyond the try line.


NWU Eagles Fall Just Short Against Maties in Thrilling Varsity Cup Clash


Excitement was at its peak as the FNB NWU Eagles faced off against the FNB Maties in a gripping second-round Varsity Cup 2025 encounter at the Fanie du Toit Rugby Field. The atmosphere was electric, with fans rallying behind the Eagles, eager to witness their team defend home turf. However, despite a valiant effort, the Eagles fell just short, with Maties securing a narrow 29-27 victory in a nail-biting contest.


JB Marks Municipality Closes Key Offices Due to Safety Concerns


The JB Marks Local Municipality has announced the temporary closure of its Speakers Office, Disaster Management, and Town Planning buildings due to serious structural concerns. This decision comes following a prohibition notice issued by the Department of Employment and Labour’s Inspectorate and Enforcement unit on February 20, 2025.


Public Invited to Participate in JB Marks Municipality’s 2023/2024 Annual Report Discussions


The JB Marks Local Municipality has extended an open invitation to all residents to engage in a series of public participation meetings regarding the 2023/2024 Annual Report. These meetings, organized by the Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC), aim to foster transparency and accountability while allowing community members to voice their concerns, ask questions, and provide input on municipal governance.
