The Totius Hall at North-West University recently hosted the NWU Comedy Night, an evening filled with humour, excitement, and community spirit. The event was organised to raise funds for the NWU We Care Bursary Fund, which provides financial assistance to students in need.

Performances
The evening featured a diverse lineup of performers. Award-winning comedian Virgil Prins hosted the event, combining sharp humour with social commentary to guide the show. Jaxx Justice, known for her fearless comedic style, opened the evening with socially aware humour that resonated with the audience.
Two student comedians, Msawawa and Karabo, delivered seven-minute sets that drew enthusiastic responses. Audience feedback highlighted Msawawa’s performance in particular, with the majority of attendees rating the overall show from “very good” to “excellent.”
The headline act was veteran actor and comedian Hannes Brümmer, who closed the night with a performance rich in improvised comedy, earning strong applause from the crowd.
Impact
The event demonstrated NWU’s commitment to both supporting students financially and fostering local talent. By combining entertainment with charitable giving, the university showcased a model where laughter and community engagement directly contribute to student success.

Future Plans
Based on the positive response, additional comedy nights are planned for the future. These events are expected to continue blending performance with fundraising, strengthening both the cultural and educational life of the university community.
