Hombré Men’s Residence is more than just accommodation; it is a legacy of excellence, unity, and faith. Established in 1975, this residence has stood the test of time as one of NWU’s oldest men’s hostels. Known as the “Lair of the Kudu Bull,” Hombré continues to empower its residents to achieve greatness through discipline, tradition, and mutual respect.
The Hombré anthem proudly declares the unity and purpose of its residents: “Here we all live and play together and work for His glorious name.” Every bull in Hombré carries this commitment, ensuring the residence remains a force to be reckoned with.

Spacious double and single rooms, regarded as the largest on campus.
Built-in cupboards, power points, and internet connectivity in each room.
Residents may bring personal appliances like fridges, kettles, and microwaves.
Communal Spaces
Clubhouse (Hombré Dam): The heart of social events and traditions.
Recreation Hall: A large, multipurpose hall with archives preserving Hombré’s history.
Braai Area: Equipped with both fixed and drum braais, surrounded by wooden benches in a picturesque courtyard.
Bicycle Shed: Secure and covered, located in the courtyard.
Entertainment and Study Facilities
DSTV-equipped clubhouse and corridor TV rooms for sports and socializing.
Pool table and table tennis for relaxation, especially during exams.
Computer room with 24/7 internet and a library of past exam papers for academic support.
Kitchens and Bathrooms
Luxurious kitchens with marble tops, stoves, microwaves, and filtered water.

Four washing machines and two tumble-dryers.

Leadership
Residence Management
Led by Residence Parents Mr. Greg Roberts and Mrs. Catharina Bartlett, Hombré provides a nurturing and value-driven environment. Together with a capable House Committee, they guide the residence with a focus on tradition and progress.

The HC ensures the smooth running of residence life, fostering a strong sense of unity and involvement.

Hombré made a strong showing in the Campus Debate competition:
Four teams reached the quarter-finals.
English 1 Team: 1st place in the Men’s league.
Hombré Overall: 3rd place in the Men’s league.
Special Recognition: Kanayọchị Okeke won Best Speaker in the Men’s English division.
