With only one day left before the next Vat Verniet Tafel, excitement and gratitude fill the air in Potchefstroom. The community-driven project continues to prove that small acts of kindness, when multiplied, can bring lasting relief to families in need. As preparations reach their final stretch, both donations and volunteer support continue to pour in. All people in need are welcome on 25 October.

Community Spirit and Growing Impact
The Vat Verniet Tafel has grown remarkably since its humble beginnings. During the first table, between 80 and 100 people were served, while the second event reached an impressive 250 to 300 individuals, each receiving food, clothing, blankets, toiletries, and more. This upward momentum showcases the heart of Potchefstroom’s residents, whose generosity and willingness to help one another remain unwavering.
💛 “Potch, we are sincerely grateful for every contribution, prayer, and message of support,” said the coordination team. “Every donation, no matter how small, plays a part in restoring hope.”
Recent Donations and Acts of Kindness
As the October event approaches, several generous contributions have helped strengthen preparations:
Century 21 donated 200 packs of instant porridge, ensuring that many children and families will have a nourishing meal.
Kapeka Trust extended their support through contributions that will directly benefit those in need.
Einstein Electrical Engineers also made a generous donation toward the cause.
An anonymous donor provided funds that allowed organizers to purchase minced meat, with Impala Slaghuis offering it at half the usual price, a gesture that touched many hearts.
These gifts join a long list of donations collected at recent Trolliedays held at various supermarkets across Potchefstroom. The events not only gathered essential supplies but also inspired many to get involved, proving once again that compassion is contagious.
What’s Still Needed
For anyone wishing to contribute before the big day, the team continues to welcome donations of the following:
Bottled water (goal: 500 units for event day)
Non-perishable food items
Toiletries and hygiene essentials
English Bibles
Clothing and shoes for all ages
📍 Drop-off point:
Mooirivier Beskerming, 48 Spruit Street, Potchefstroom.

Closing Reflection
As the countdown continues, the Vat Verniet Tafel reminds Potchefstroom that kindness is a powerful force, one that feeds bodies, restores dignity, and uplifts entire communities. With tomorrow’s event on the horizon, every contribution and volunteer effort will help turn generosity into hope for hundreds of local residents.
