The Parys Crater Street Mile returns on Saturday, 25 October 2025, and the streets of this Free State town will once again be pounding with footsteps, banter, and a fair amount of Lycra. It’s not just a run; it’s a full-on celebration of sport, community and a bit of healthy competitiveness, whether you're clocking elite times or trotting along in takkies for fun.
One Mile. Ten Events. Thousands of Reasons to Join
This world-certified event isn’t messing about. It’s an official ASA Free State Qualifier, which means serious athletes looking to make a mark will be out in force. But don’t stress if you’re just there for a jog and a boerie roll, there’s a place for everyone. Here’s how the morning will unfold:

(*Elite events are by invitation only and subject to qualification.)
No License? No Problem (Sort Of)
If you’re gunning for ASA qualification, bring your ASA license. No temporary licenses will be available on the day, and you won’t be able to buy one at the venue either. Not licensed? No problem, sign up as a fun runner and enjoy the same route without the competitive stress.
Just remember: no license, no time, at least when it comes to qualifying. But you’ll still get a medal and a lekker sense of accomplishment.
More Than Just Medals
Every participant gets a finisher’s medal, whether they sprint it in five minutes or saunter over the line with a latte in hand. And if you’re feeling lucky (or just really fast), there’s over R50 000 in prize money up for grabs. The competition will be tight, especially in the elite events, so sharpen those spikes.
Helping Hands Behind the Scenes
The Street Mile isn’t just about speed. It’s also about support. All proceeds help power the Volunteer Emergency Medical Service, an initiative by Rotary Parys that’s actually approved by the Provincial Department of Health. Every entry fee goes towards making sure that help arrives fast when it’s most needed. So yes, your sweat really does save lives.
