Planned Water Supply Interruption in Ikageng and Potch Industria on October 20

The JB Marks Local Municipality has announced a scheduled water supply interruption due to the replacement of dysfunctional valves at the Ikageng Water Pump Station. The maintenance work aims to improve the efficiency and reliability of water delivery to local residents.

According to a public notice issued by the municipality’s Communication Unit, the planned shutdown will take place on Monday, 20 October 2025, starting from 06h00 until late in the day. During this period, the water supply will be temporarily interrupted for all areas served by the Ikageng Water Pump Station.
Affected Areas
The following communities are expected to experience water interruptions:
Ikageng Proper (Old Ikageng)
Potch Industria
Residents in these areas are urged to store sufficient water in advance for domestic use throughout the day, as supply will only be restored once the valve replacement is complete.
Purpose of the Maintenance
The JB Marks Municipality stated that the valve replacement is part of ongoing efforts to enhance the reliability and efficiency of water services. The municipality emphasized the importance of this maintenance to ensure consistent and improved water pressure across the network.

In the notice, the municipality extended its apologies to all affected residents for any inconvenience caused, assuring the community that this temporary disruption is necessary for long-term service improvement.
“We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience that may be caused as efforts continue to improve the reliability and efficiency of water service delivery,” the statement read.
