Potch Dorp Rugby Launches League Season with Heart, Pride, and Powerful Moments

The 2025 President and Neser A League campaign got off to a spirited start for Potchefstroom Dorp Rugbyklub, as all four senior teams took the field this past Saturday, 10 May, in an action-packed day that saw determination, hard-fought battles, and community pride on full display.
Matchday Results – 10 May 2025
🟣 Women 18 – 10 Ikageng (Semi-Final Victory)
⚫ Third Team 12 – 28 Sibanye 3
🔴 Second Team 43 – 38 Sibanye 2
🟠 First Team 23 – 34 Sibanye 1
While the First and Third Teams came up short on the scoreboard, the Second Team delivered an exhilarating win in a high-scoring clash, and the Women's Team secured their place in the upcoming final with a composed and clinical performance against Ikageng.
Special Moments Captured on and off the Field
The day included more than just match action. Local motorcycle club Steelwings Potchefstroom lined the entrance with a thunderous row of motorbikes as the Team ran onto the field, a symbolic moment of community support and unity.

Off the pitch, The Go-To Guy caught up with Marnus Venter, captain of the First Team, for a post-match interview. In a heartfelt reflection, Marnus noted:
“Rugby gaan oor broederskap.”("Rugby is about brotherhood.")
He shared thoughts on the weekend’s game and the deeper meaning of rugby as a connection that extends far beyond the try line.
