Potch Girls High Celebrates Academic Dominance at District Excellence Awards

Potchefstroom High School for Girls has been honored for its exceptional academic performance at the prestigious Dr. Kenneth Kaunda Excellence Awards. The school’s recognition follows outstanding National Senior Certificate (NSC) results, reinforcing its status as a leading institution for academic excellence and innovation.

Faculty Honors: 100% Pass Rates and Top Distinctions
Five educators from the school were invited to the awards ceremony for achieving a 100% pass rate and the highest number of distinctions in their respective subjects across the entire district:
Mrs. H. van der Walt: Afrikaans First Additional Language (FAL).
Mrs. de Lange & Ms. Gray: English Home Language (HL).
Mrs. Eybers: Geography.
Mrs. Human: Consumer Studies.
Top Student Achievement
The school celebrated a remarkable individual milestone with Laura Andrade de Ponte, who secured the highest mark in the district for Afrikaans FAL, achieving a near-perfect score of 98%.
District Rankings and Science Innovation
The institution was further recognized for its collective academic output, ranking significantly high within the Dr. Kenneth Kaunda District:
3rd Highest: Total number of distinctions in the district.
2nd Highest: Overall distinction rate in the district.
Beyond the NSC results, Dr. G. Djan and her Science Expo learners were commended for their performances at both national and international levels. The recognized students include Diya Zacharia, Shreya Zacharia, Lamees Rassulmia, Mariam Adeleke, Aa’ishah Khan, and Taslima Chand.
