The High School for Girls Potchefstroom is set to become the center of rhythm and precision this weekend as it hosts the NWMCA Majorettes Competition on Saturday, 18 April 2026. The event promises a full day of high-energy performances, featuring top-tier talent from across the province.

A Multidisciplinary Showcase
The competition will bring together teams across three main academic levels, Primary, High School, and Tertiary. Spectators can expect a diverse program featuring both traditional Majorettes (drummies) and high-impact Cheerleading squads.
Participating teams include regional powerhouses such as:
Primary Level: Eagles Majorettes, TWPS, and Naauwport.
High School Level: The host school (Potch Girls High), Lebone II College of the Royal Bafokeng, and Black Diamonds Blaze.
Tertiary Level: Competitive squads including Elegere, Wildcats Cheer, and Panthers Gymnastix.
Event Logistics and Community Impact
The competition is scheduled to run from 08:00 until 18:00, providing ten hours of continuous entertainment. To accommodate the expected large crowds, the school has arranged dedicated parking at the Drummie Field, with access via Kock Street.
The event is designed to be a family-friendly outing, with entrance fees set at R30 per person or R50 per car. A tuck shop will be available throughout the day to cater to participants and fans.
Fostering Excellence
For the host school, organizing such a large-scale NWMCA (North West Majorette and Cheerleading Association) event aligns with their mission to promote "Growth to Greatness." Beyond the competition, the day serves as a platform for athletes to demonstrate discipline, teamwork, and physical coordination.
