As the first true frost of the winter season settles over the city, local humanitarian organization OCSA Potch has announced a strategic shift in its outreach locations to better serve those in dire need. After a successful period of service in Baillie Park, the organization is relocating its primary outreach hub to Jeug Street, effective this coming Monday, June 1, 2026.

Expanding Footprints: Moving to Jeug Street
The decision to relocate follows a community assessment identifying a higher density of vulnerable individuals in the Jeug Street area. OCSA Potch representatives noted that while the Baillie Park chapter has concluded, the mission remains the same: to provide food, spiritual support, and hope to the marginalized.

To ensure the success of this new location, the organization has issued a call for local "prayer warriors" and volunteers. The expansion requires a significant increase in resources, specifically:
Sponsorships: For bread and soup ingredients.
Volunteers: Dedicated individuals to assist in soup preparation and distribution.
Spiritual Support: Community members willing to share time and prayer with those visited during outreaches.

Fundraising for a Cause: The Biltong Competition
In conjunction with the relocation, OCSA Potch has launched a localized fundraiser running from May 27 to June 3, 2026. Residents have the opportunity to win R300 worth of "Lekker Biltong" by participating in a charity raffle.
Tickets are priced at R50 each, with a promotional offer of "Buy 2, Get 1 Free." All proceeds are directed toward the organization's feeding schemes and the sustainability of the Nehemiah Project.

A Call to Action for Winter Relief
The move to Jeug Street highlights the ongoing challenges of food security and poverty in Potchefstroom as winter intensifies. OCSA Potch emphasizes that they are a "community for everyone," urging residents to "take their hand" in this transition. By participating in the biltong raffle or volunteering at the new site, locals can provide the necessary momentum for the organization to meet the increased demand for help.
Through these combined efforts of community-funded raffles and boots-on-the-ground volunteerism, OCSA Potch remains dedicated to fostering a spirit of upliftment and practical assistance across the city.
