While the spotlight often falls on the fighters who trade blows in the ring, the integrity and safety of the sport rely entirely on the men and women in the middle. The RCFAI Potch ICE-Team proved today that they are a club of all-round excellence, announcing that two of their senior officials have been selected for the 2026 RCFA National Team.

Verischke Lubbe and Etienne van Eeden have been confirmed as part of the elite group of officials who will represent South Africa on the international stage next year.
The Best of the Best
Selection as a national official is a rigorous process. It requires an encyclopedic knowledge of the rules, split-second decision-making capabilities, and the ability to maintain composure in high-pressure environments.
The RCFA (Ring Contact Fighting Art) management described Lubbe and Van Eeden as standing "among the very best RCFA officials in South Africa." Their selection is not just a personal victory, but a validation of the high standards maintained by the North West province's administrative structures.
Flying the Flag
The role of an international official is that of an ambassador. When Lubbe and Van Eeden step onto the mats or into the ring at international events in 2026, they will be representing the fairness and professionalism of South African sport.
The club described the duo as "absolute powerhouses" whose dedication has rightfully earned them this honor.
A Double Victory for Potch
This announcement follows closely on the heels of the selection of the club's athletes for the national team. For RCFAI Potch ICE-Team to produce both top-tier fighters and world-class officials in the same year is a rare feat. It demonstrates a holistic approach to martial arts where every facet of the sport, from combat to governance, is treated with excellence.
Congratulations to Verischke and Etienne. The community of Potchefstroom looks forward to seeing you fly the South African flag with pride!
