Let’s see what happened at Potch Track Club (PTC) during the month of May, a month marked by personal bests, international breakthroughs, and confident returns across the track and road.

International Debut at the UAE Grand Prix
The highlight of May was undoubtedly the 2025 World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze , UAE Grand Prix, where several PTC athletes kicked off their international seasons with exceptional performances:
Tamzin Thomas opened the night in both sprints, clocking 11.44s (2nd place) in the 100m and 23.78s (4th place) in the 200m. Just two days later, she stormed to 11.43s (2nd place) and a win in the 200m (24.15s) at the UAE Athletics Women’s Gala, all Season Bests, showing sharp early-season form.
Christopher Swart marked his international debut with a bang, achieving a new personal best of 1:45.86 in the 800m and securing 3rd place. A huge breakthrough for the rising middle-distance runner.
Luan Munnik lit up the track with a new PB of 3:35.66 in the 1500m, placing 2nd in a world-class field, another milestone for PTC’s top miler.
Keanu Domingo continued his strong form with a 3:38.62 finish (5th place), adding to his growing streak of sub-3:40 performances. His PB of 3:36.78 from April indicates serious consistency on the world stage.
Jerry Motsau, the seasoned campaigner, made his season debut with a time of 3:41.05 (6th place) in the 1500m. A measured start as he gears up for bigger meets.

Back on Home Ground: National Road Racing Highlights
Even with the spotlight on international competition, PTC athletes made major moves on South African soil too:
Elroy Gelant, fresh off his new South African marathon record (2:05:36) in April, returned to shorter distances with authority. At the ABSA Run Your City Cape Town 10K, he ran a season best 28:08, finishing 4th, a remarkable recovery and a testament to his endurance and speed.
Divan de Vries, one of PTC’s most promising juniors, made May his own. After a 10km PB (31:50) in April, he clocked 1:12:21 to win the junior title at the Wally Hayward Half Marathon. Two distance PBs in two months, this youngster is one to watch!
