Unused Solar Geysers Exposed at IDP Meeting


At a recent IDP meeting held at Lusaka Hall, residents were left stunned after discovering hundreds of boxed solar geysers occupying the entire venue. Meant for low-income households, these systems have been idle for years. The DA has since called for a full municipal audit and immediate action to ensure the geysers finally reach their intended beneficiaries.


Honouring the Fallen: National Gunners Memorial in Potch


A dignified ceremony took place at the National Gunners Memorial on 18 May, where veterans, military personnel, and families gathered to pay tribute to South Africa's fallen artillery soldiers. The service included a wreath-laying ceremony and artillery salute, offering a moment of reflection and national gratitude.


Electric Vibes at NWU Open Day


North-West University's Potchefstroom campus was abuzz during its annual Open Day. Smoke machines, brass bands, and enthusiastic student ambassadors welcomed hundreds of learners and families for guided tours of the university's facilities, showcasing the academic and social heartbeat of the institution.


Home Affairs Extends Saturday Hours for Smart ID Cards


The Department of Home Affairs has extended Saturday hours for Smart ID applications throughout May. The Potchefstroom branch will be open for three weekends to speed up access to the modern ID system. Residents are urged to take advantage of this opportunity.

Potch Dorp Rugby Women Crowned League Champions


Potchefstroom Dorp Rugbyklub had a dream weekend, with all senior teams securing wins. The Women's team topped the celebration with a league final victory over Welkom (21–10), making them official 2025 champions.

Matchday Highlights – 17 May 2025:

  • Women: 21–10 vs Welkom

  • 2nd Team: 27–7 vs Matlosana

  • 1st Team: 40–22 vs Matlosana


A Glimpse into the 1940s: Dorp Rugby Rebuilds


In a post-WWII world, Potch Dorp Rugbyklub rose from the dust to reclaim their identity on the field. The late 1940s saw the return of the beloved Blikbeker and a revival of community pride in the sport.

Scheduled Water Outage: 20–22 May 2025
