Over the past three weeks, the region has experienced everything from severe weather and service disruptions to serious crime and traffic-related incidents. This summary reflects confirmed alerts and municipal advisories ranging from road closures and thefts to warnings about rainfall, scams, and emergency contact details. Community vigilance, accurate location sharing in emergencies, and cooperation with SAPS remain critical in keeping Potchefstroom safe.

🔹 Community Alerts & Emergencies
1 November – PIN Location Reminder & Motorcycle Theft
Potchefstroom First Responders urged all residents to remember that sending their WhatsApp PIN location in an emergency can be life-saving. Simultaneously, a motorcycle theft was reported in town.
4 November – House Fire in Ikageng
A house fire broke out in the Ikageng area. No additional details have been confirmed publicly, but emergency teams responded swiftly.
5–6 November – Protests, Scams & Storms
A sanctioned unemployment march closed one lane of the N12 between Potchefstroom and Klerksdorp. Law enforcement was on high alert. Simultaneously, street scammers were reported in the area. On 6 November, heavy rainfall and standing water were noted on roads surrounding Potchefstroom, particularly on the N12 toward Johannesburg.

Infrastructure Notices
7–9 November – Road Closures for Repairs
Due to storm damage, Oudebrug Road was closed on 7 November. By 9 November, the JB Marks Local Municipality issued notice of a temporary closure on Louis le Grange Road for paving and rehabilitation.
12 November – Damaged Water Line
During paving work in Louis le Grange Street, the main water pipeline was damaged, affecting water pressure in surrounding areas.

Criminal Activity & Public Safety
10 November – Shooting in Industrial Area
A tragic shooting in Luitingh Street left the community stunned. Emergency teams responded, and the public was asked to avoid the area.
11 November – Murder and Attempted Murder Case
A shocking incident occurred at a business in the industrial area where a 73-year-old man allegedly shot two brothers, killing one and hospitalising the other. The suspect is under guard and will appear in court.
12 November – Spare Wheel Thefts
Potch CPF issued an urgent alert about a string of spare wheel thefts. A suspect was apprehended, but more information is needed. Residents were urged to check their vehicles and report thefts immediately with a SAPS case number.
13 November – Ford Vehicle Thefts
CPF confirmed an uptick in Ford bakkie and Everest thefts in Potchefstroom and Klerksdorp. Extra precautions were advised.
17 November – Bicycle Theft in Miederpark
Two bicycles with child seats were stolen. Community members were asked to assist with any information that could help recover the stolen items.
19 November – Residential Fire in Gardenia Street
Another house fire was reported. Authorities responded promptly, and residents were reminded of fire season precautions.
20 November – Schoemansdrift Bridge Closure
Due to dangerously high water flow levels (3.26m deep and 1802m³/s), the Schoemansdrift bridge was closed early in the morning. Residents were advised to avoid the area.

Road Safety & Accidents
Multiple motor vehicle accidents occurred during this period, including:
Mooibank Road: Minor injuries reported
Ventersdorp Road: No obstructions, but warnings issued
Steve Biko Street: A large fallen tree blocked part of the roadway; fire and municipal services were engaged
