Pump Station Restored After Flooding Disruption in JB Marks Municipality

Residents across JB Marks Local Municipality can breathe a sigh of relief following the successful restoration of the Ventersdorp Road Main Water Pump Station. This development comes after a mechanical failure on Pump 1 led to significant service disruptions and localized flooding in multiple areas over the past few days.

Incident Overview

The failure occurred at one of the main pumps at the Ventersdorp Road facility. As a result, several communities experienced interruptions in water services and potential flooding risks. The municipality responded swiftly by conducting a thorough inspection and deploying technical teams to rectify the issue.


Restoration Efforts and Safety Assurance

As of last night, the municipality confirmed that the Pump Station has been fully restored and is now operational. A comprehensive inspection has verified that both mechanical and electrical systems are functioning properly. This assurance indicates that the facility is capable of resuming standard operations without any further delays.


Communities Affected

The areas impacted by the temporary failure included:

  • Dassierand

  • Kannonniers Park

  • Witrand Hospital

  • Promosa

  • Mohadin

  • Western Parts of Ikageng (All Extension Areas)


Residents in these locations reported difficulties with water supply and potential localized waterlogging as a result of the malfunction.


Public Communication and Apology

In a public notice issued by the Communication Unit of JB Marks Local Municipality, officials extended their apologies to the affected residents. The statement expressed gratitude for the public's patience and understanding during the disruption.

“We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused and greatly appreciate the patience and understanding shown by residents during the period of disruption,” the notice read.

Looking Ahead

With the pump station back online, municipal officials are optimistic that no further disruptions will occur. However, continued monitoring and preventative maintenance are expected to be prioritized to avoid a repeat of such mechanical failures.

The JB Marks Local Municipality continues to urge residents to report any irregularities and remains committed to transparency and timely communication regarding service disruptions.
