In a vibrant celebration of South Africa's cultural heritage and community sport, Reach Out Academy Development, in collaboration with the JB Marks Service Point and the Sports Department, will host a Local Indigenous Games Selection event on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at the Ikageng Ground Stadium Basketball Court. The games will kick off at 9:00 AM, drawing participants and spectators from across the local community.

Reviving Indigenous Games and Culture
This initiative forms part of a broader strategy to revive and promote traditional African sports as a crucial element of identity, heritage, and wellness. The selection event will highlight nine exciting and culturally rooted indigenous sporting codes:

Featured Sporting Codes:
Kgati – A traditional rope-skipping game, mainly played by young girls.
Khokho – A team-tag sport that encourages speed, agility, and coordination.
Drie-Stokkies – A fast-paced running and dodging game involving three sticks.
Ncuva – A strategic board game similar to mancala, often played by the elderly.
Dibeke – A dynamic ball game involving kicking and running, with similarities to soccer and netball.
Diketo – A coordination and focus game involving pebbles and a small hole in the ground.
Intonga – Traditional stick fighting, requiring skill, timing, and sportsmanship.
Jukskei – A target-based game using wooden pins, historically played on farms.
Morabaraba – A strategic board game played with tokens on a grid, testing mental agility.
