In the heart of our vibrant city, a new movement is stirring, one built on the belief that dignity should never be a luxury. Lerato Moloi, a local visionary and the founder of TowelOfHope, has officially launched a community-driven campaign aimed at providing basic hygiene essentials to schools and underprivileged communities across Potchefstroom.

The premise of the campaign is simple yet profound: every human being deserves to feel clean, confident, and cared for. However, for many learners in our local schools and residents in vulnerable areas, access to something as basic as a fresh towel or a bar of soap is a daily struggle.
Bridging the Gap with Kindness
Lerato Moloi started TowelOfHope after noticing the invisible barriers that a lack of hygiene products creates. "I am starting this campaign because I believe every person deserves dignity," says Lerato.
"Access to basic hygiene isn't just about health; it’s about how a person carries themselves in the world. When we help bridge this gap, we aren't just giving a product, we are giving kindness and respect."
The campaign focuses on collecting essential items that many of us take for granted, but which can change the trajectory of a student’s school day or a family’s well-being.
The Call to Action: What Potchefstroom Can Do
The TowelOfHope initiative is calling on the "Potch Family", businesses, churches, schools, and individuals, to contribute to this cause. The campaign is currently seeking donations of the following items:
New or clean, gently used towels and face cloths.
Soap, body wash, and sponges.
Toothpaste and toothbrushes.
Sanitary products and deodorants.
A Community That Cares
Potchefstroom is known for its strong sense of community and Lerato believes that by working together, the city can ensure that no child has to miss school or feel ashamed due to a lack of resources.
"We want to bridge the gap with care and kindness," Lerato explains. "It’s about showing our neighbors that they aren't forgotten."
How to Get Involved
Whether you have a single towel to spare or want to organize a collection drive at your workplace, every contribution counts. Small acts of generosity often lead to the greatest ripples of change.
By supporting TowelOfHope, you aren't just donating a hygiene product; you are investing in the dignity of a fellow Potchefstroom resident.
