This past weekend at Potchefstroom Dorp Rugbyklub wasn’t just about tackles, tries, and tight scores, it was about community, connection, and creating lifelong rugby memories. Baillie Park Laerskool’s rugby players, from U/9 to U/13, were invited to experience match day like never before, and their presence brought a surge of youthful energy.

Dressed in their own team colours and full of excitement, the boys from BailliebPark lined the tunnel before kickoff to form a guard of honour for Potch Dorp’s senior teams. With flags waving, voices cheering, and pride in every step, these young players gave their local heroes a send-off worthy of any stadium in the world.

Throughout the day, Baillie Park’s players mingled with senior squad members, took photos, and even joined the team in the post-match huddle, an unforgettable moment of mentorship and unity. It was clear that for these young athletes, meeting the Potch Dorp first and second teams wasn’t just inspiring, it was empowering.

While the rugby results of the day saw Potch Dorp’s First Team narrowly defeated by a strong Welkom side (24–33), and the Second Team showing true grit in a 12–12 battle, the biggest win was off the field. The energy and sportsmanship displayed by the Baillie Park visitors reminded everyone why rugby is more than just a game, it's a legacy passed down through community.

Supporters joined the fun too, turning the club grounds into a celebration of Potchefstroom spirit. The kids were treated to food, fun, and the thrill of being right in the heart of the action. Though the Third Team's match didn’t take place, the stands were alive with energy, proving once again that rugby is a family affair in Potch.
There’s no doubt that the players of tomorrow were watching closely, and dreaming big.
