The Efficient Wealth Klerksdorp Marathon is shaping up to be a cracker of a running event, with big names and fast times expected. Scheduled for 8 February 2026, the race has cemented its status as one of South Africa's go-to qualifiers for both the Comrades and Two Oceans marathons.
Quick Off the Starting Block
With the Comrades Marathon entries being snapped up faster than a free koeksister, the Klerksdorp Marathon is pitching itself as the country’s fastest Comrades qualifier. According to the stats proven by running expert Stuart Mann of runningmann.co.za, it’s earned a spot as a Top 10 fastest finish time Comrades qualifier in Mzansi. For those aiming for the big one, this race is a must.
What's On Offer?
The event offers a variety of distances to suit every kind of runner, from the serious athlete to the family looking for a morning out. The starting gun goes off at 06:00 for the 21.1 km Half Marathon and the 42.2 km Marathon. The 5 km Fun Run and the 10 km races start slightly later at 06:15.
The venue for all the action is H/S Wesvalia in Klerksdorp.

Prize Purse and Perks
The organisers are putting their money where their mouth is with a chunky R30 000 Prize Purse up for grabs. Adding to the fun, there will be "Loads of Lucky draws" on the day. Every finisher, from the speedsters to the moeg runners, will receive a medal.
An Economist Joins the Race
Adding a dash of star power to the field is Dawie Roodt, the Efficient Group Chief Economist. Roodt and the Efficient Wealth team are inviting everyone to join them on the day.
So, if you're looking to qualify for the big ultras, or just want to run a flat, fast, and relatively well-priced race, the Efficient Wealth Klerksdorp Marathon on 8 February 2026 looks like a lekker choice. Just remember to register before 2 February 2026 and bring your A-game, or at least your sense of humour if you end up jogging next to Dawie Roodt discussing the CPI figures.
