SmartStart: Potchefstroom’s Dealer-Only Vehicle Marketplace

SmartStart is Potchefstroom’s dedicated, dealer-only marketplace, designed to put local vehicle stock front and center for area buyers. Developed by The Go-To Guy, it bypasses national portals and informal classifieds by funneling shoppers directly to dealer inventory. Every listing on SmartStart is “Verified Dealer” certified, so buyers know they’re dealing with legitimate, vetted sellers.





Platform Overview


SmartStart’s interface is built with simplicity and speed in mind. Dealers can upload each vehicle, cars, bakkies, bikes, trucks or even plant equipment, in just a few clicks. Here’s how it all comes together:


Upload and Showcase Stock


  • Mobile-First Gallery: Add up to eight high-quality photos per vehicle. Once uploaded, images display in a clean carousel (e.g., “1/8” style pagination), so buyers can swipe through multiple angles.

  • Click & Connect: Every listing features an instant “Click & Connect” button. When a buyer taps it, an email alert (or WhatsApp message if configured) goes straight to the dealer’s inbox, no middleman, no delay.

  • Pinned Forecourt Location: By dropping a map pin on their forecourt address, dealers give shoppers clear directions. This builds confidence: buyers know exactly where to go and can arrive prepared to negotiate.


Detailed, Structured Listings


  • Title & Pricing: Vehicle entries follow a consistent format, “Year • Make • Model • Trim” (e.g., “2025 GWM Steed 5 2.0VGT S”), paired with a clearly displayed asking price (e.g., “R 299 900”). Optionally, dealers can show estimated monthly finance repayments for greater transparency.


  • Key Snapshot: Right beneath the title, a compact icon bar showcases four high-impact specs at a glance: mileage, transmission type, fuel type, and overall condition rating. Buyers see the essentials before scrolling deeper.


  • Dealer Info & Verified Badge: Each listing prominently displays the dealer’s name (with a “Verified Dealer” badge), contact number, WhatsApp link and forecourt address, making it effortless for buyers to reach out or plan a visit.


  • “About This Vehicle” Section: A concise bullet-point summary highlights standout features (e.g., air conditioning, airbags, power steering), warranty coverage, and any roadside assistance perks. A final line urges buyers to book a test drive, keeping urgency top of mind.


  • Tabbed Details & Specs: Below the summary, expandable panels (or tabs) organize the rest of the data, service history, colour, body type and remaining warranty in one panel; engine, fuel economy, wheel configuration and stability control in another; and interior comfort, safety features and infotainment details in a third. This structured approach ensures buyers can find exactly what they’re looking for without wading through a long, uninterrupted block of text.


Dealer Dashboard & Workflow


  • Add New Vehicle: Dealers log in, click “Add New Vehicle,” and fill in a step-by-step form. Required fields include basic info (year, make, model, trim, price), snapshot specs (mileage, transmission, fuel, condition), dealer contact details and a short descriptive bullet list.


  • Image Uploads: Drag-and-drop support makes it easy to add all photos at once. Thumbnails auto-generate and can be reordered.


  • Preview & Publish: Before going live, dealers can preview exactly how a listing will appear to buyers. Once published, it’s immediately visible to Potchefstroom-region shoppers.


  • Edit or Archive: At any time, dealers can click “Edit” to revise details or “Archive” to pull a listing offline, keeping inventory current and avoiding confusion.
