In this inspiring episode of Spiritual Talk, Pieter Conradie welcomes Ivan Venter, life coach and founder of True Potential, for a deep and practical conversation on discovering your God-given purpose and developing the mindset to live with intention.

Lighting the Inner Fire
Ivan begins by sharing his passion for helping people awaken the “fire” that God has already placed within them. Whether through ministry or coaching, his calling is to help others recognize that spark and fan it into a flame.
He uses the image of logs at a campfire, if separated, they cool down; together, they burn bright. In the same way, people thrive when connected to a body, community, or support structure. His mission? To help individuals rediscover that connection, reignite their purpose, and walk it out with confidence.
The Origin of True Potential
Ivan started True Potential in 2020 as a Christian life- and leadership coaching initiative. Originally emerging from his work with Transmission, a faith-based organization focused on mentorship, the coaching program was born from a need for personalized guidance in diverse cultural and spiritual contexts.
Rather than prescribing solutions, Ivan uses active listening and thoughtful questions to help people arrive at their own answers, making True Potential a bridge between personal reflection and intentional action.
“Each person has their own unique solution already within them. Coaching simply helps them discover it.”
Coaching as Ministry
Ivan emphasizes the Christian foundation of his coaching work: God is present in every session. As a Christian life coach, his goal is not just personal development but spiritual alignment, encouraging people to live from their true identity in Christ.
He explains that coaching isn’t about giving advice or creating dependency. Instead, it’s about empowering individuals to discover what God has placed in their hands and helping them move forward with clarity and conviction.
Awareness Before Action
A major theme in the conversation is the role of self-awareness. Many people feel stuck, victims of circumstance or background, but Ivan explains that once awareness is unlocked, action becomes possible.
Whether working with students, leaders, teams, or individuals, Ivan uses coaching principles to:
Build confidence
Create structure
Help clients take ownership of their growth
Move from confusion to clarity

Coaching in Practice: Youth, Teams & Leadership
True Potential offers one-on-one coaching, group sessions, and corporate workshops. These include:
Active listening and feedback skills for managers
Team-building sessions
Coaching-based leadership development
Transitional coaching for young adults
Ivan explains how coaching is now integrated into schools, businesses, and churches, evidence of a societal shift where the need for emotional, mental, and spiritual support is greater than ever before.
Is Coaching For Me?
Ivan is clear: life coaching is for anyone who wants to grow. Whether you’re a student facing life’s next chapter, a professional seeking clarity, or a church leader experiencing burnout, coaching helps simplify complexity and unlock momentum.
He differentiates coaching from counseling:
Counseling: Healing from past pain
Coaching: Moving forward with clarity and structure
Romans 12 and the Transformed Mind
The session ends on a spiritual note as Pieter references Romans 12:2, which speaks about renewing the mind and being transformed. Ivan adds that life coaching provides the tools, like puzzle pieces, that help people renew their minds and transform their lives.
“When you shift your mindset, everything else begins to shift. You stop surviving and start living intentionally.”
