A student in Potchefstroom was recently scammed out of her money and belongings after falling victim to a deceptive scheme.

How the Scam Worked
The scammer approached the student, claiming his car had run out of petrol and asked her to assist by collecting some. To appear trustworthy, he handed over a bank card and car keys, while offering to hold onto her belongings in the meantime.
When the student returned, the man had disappeared. The bank card was declined, and while she still had the car key in her possession, both her belongings and the alleged car were gone.
