The local community is gearing up for a day on the greens this July, combining a love for the game with a drive to support local upliftment initiatives. Organised by OCSA Potch and NTT Nissan Potchefstroom, the Operation Compassion Golf Day is set to take place at the Potchefstroom Golf Course on Friday, 17 July 2026.
The event coincides with Nelson Mandela Day initiatives, inviting participants to spend their 67 minutes on the course in support of community-focused projects.
What to Expect on the Day
The tournament features a shotgun start with tee-off scheduled for 10h00. Golfers will compete in a Better Ball Scramble Drive format. To ensure a welcoming environment for all participants, non-golfers are also invited to join the field, playing off a 10 handicap.
A substantial prize pool valued at R270,000 is up for grabs, including a notable incentive for a hole-in-one: a brand-new Nissan Magnite.
Supporting a Local Cause
Proceeds from the day support OCSA Potch's ongoing community work, which addresses local challenges such as poverty and unemployment. The organisation runs several practical initiatives, including feeding schemes and skills development programmes, alongside regular contributions to the Nehemiah Project to help foster long-term job creation and food security.
Registration costs R2,000 per 4-Ball, and local businesses or individuals looking to get involved can also sponsor a hole for R2,000.
