The SPCA Carletonville and District continues its mission to promote responsible pet ownership and improve animal welfare through its ongoing animal sterilisation initiative. As part of its dedicated efforts to protect and uplift the lives of local animals, the branch will be hosting another sterilisation day on Friday, 21 November, with four open spots still available for pet owners wishing to take part.

Sterilisation is one of the most effective ways to reduce overpopulation, prevent unwanted litters, and ensure that every animal has a chance to live a healthy, happy life. It is more than a procedure, it’s an act of compassion that helps both animals and communities thrive.
Why Sterilisation Matters
Uncontrolled breeding remains one of the biggest challenges in animal welfare. Across South Africa, thousands of cats and dogs end up abandoned, neglected, or euthanised simply because there are not enough homes for them. Through sterilisation, SPCA Carletonville aims to break this cycle of suffering.
Sterilisation helps by:
🐾 Preventing overpopulation: Fewer unwanted litters mean fewer strays and abandoned animals.
💉 Improving health: Sterilised pets have a lower risk of certain cancers, infections, and behavioral issues.
💙 Promoting safety: Reducing aggressive behaviour and territorial fighting among animals.
🏡 Strengthening community welfare: Fewer stray animals lead to safer, cleaner neighbourhoods.
Each sterilisation performed by the SPCA is conducted with the highest level of care by qualified veterinarians, ensuring both comfort and safety for every pet.
Sterilisation Day – Friday, 21 November
This upcoming Sterilisation Friday is another opportunity for local pet owners to take a proactive step toward responsible ownership. The SPCA team encourages residents to book their pets as soon as possible, as there are only four spots left for the session.
The service includes:
Cat and dog sterilisation at affordable rates
Professional, compassionate veterinary care
Pre- and post-surgery guidance from SPCA staff
Pet owners are reminded that sterilisation not only benefits their animals but contributes directly to a more humane and sustainable community.

Gratitude to Local Supporters
Community support continues to play a vital role in the success of SPCA Carletonville’s initiatives. Recently, Goudwes School made a remarkable donation to assist with the shelter’s ongoing needs, a gesture that demonstrates true community spirit and empathy for animals.
The SPCA extends heartfelt thanks to every learner, teacher, and parent who contributed to this generous act. Such partnerships are essential to sustaining operations, from daily care to special programs like sterilisation drives.
A special thank-you also goes to Laerskool Jongspan, who have shown incredible enthusiasm by taking part in the Santa Paws Box Project. Their compassion and involvement remind us that kindness begins at a young age, and spreads far beyond the classroom.
A Community United for Animal Welfare
Every act of support, whether through sterilisation, donation, or participation in community projects, brings the SPCA closer to its vision, a world where all animals live free from cruelty, neglect, and fear.
By choosing to sterilise your pet or support ongoing initiatives, you’re joining a compassionate movement that saves lives and builds a more caring Carletonville.
