The City of Matlosana, working in close partnership with the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality, successfully hosted the Thuntsa Lerole outreach programme in Kanana Township on Friday, December 5, 2025. The initiative, held at the Narabatha IAG International Church in Kanana Extension 4, delivered a comprehensive suite of governmental services directly to the residents.

Inter-Governmental Service Delivery
The Thuntsa Lerole programme saw the participation of numerous government departments, ensuring that the community had access to a wide array of essential public services in one location.
Participating departments included:
Department of Agriculture
Department of Health
Department of Sports, Arts and Culture
South African Police Service (SAPS)
South African Social Security Agency (SASSA)
These departments offered crucial services, information, and assistance, demonstrating a coordinated approach to improving citizen access to government support.
Direct Infrastructure and Service Delivery
In addition to the departmental outreach, the municipality undertook direct service delivery tasks aimed at improving the local living environment.
As part of this hands-on initiative, key infrastructure improvements were completed:
Road Grading: The local gravel road was graded, enhancing navigability and safety for residents.
Building Demolition and Rubble Clearing: A dilapidated and unused building was demolished, and the resulting rubble was cleared, removing a potential hazard and improving the appearance of the area.
Furthermore, the Local Economic Development (LED) Department was present to engage directly with the community, addressing and resolving various queries related to local economic opportunities and development.
The programme underscored the commitment of the City of Matlosana and the District Municipality to active service delivery and community engagement, bringing government closer to the people of Kanana Township.
