Tiki Taka Sports Academy from Potchefstroom Heads to Parys for U17 Showdown

The young talents of Tiki Taka Sports Academy are set to make waves in the Free State as they head to Parys for the As’phelelanga U17 Soccer Tournament, scheduled for 14–16 June 2025 at the Fezile Dabi Stadium.


This high-stakes knockout tournament will feature 16 of the most competitive under-17 teams from across the country, promising a weekend packed with thrilling matches, skill showcases, and fierce competition. With over R13,000 in prize money and a wide array of individual accolades on the line, Tiki Taka’s rising stars are ready to prove themselves on a bigger stage.

A Chance to Shine

Known for its dynamic, possession-based style of play, Tiki Taka Sports Academy has grown into one of Potchefstroom’s most exciting football development platforms. Their participation in the As’phelelanga tournament represents more than just a series of matches, it’s an opportunity for young players to gain visibility, build character, and bring pride to their community.

“The boys have trained hard for this moment,” said Coach Tshepiso Mogorosi, head of Tiki Taka’s U17 division. “We’re not just going there to play. We’re going to compete, to represent our town, and to show what disciplined, technical football looks like.”


Tournament Highlights

  • 1st Prize: R8,000 + Trophy, Gold Medals, Kit, 5 Balls

  • 2nd Prize: R3,500 + Silver Medals, Kit, 5 Balls

  • 3rd Prize: R1,500 + Bronze Medals

  • Individual Awards: Player of the Tournament, Goalkeeper of the Tournament, Midfielder, Defender, Coach, and Top Goal Scorer

  • Special Recognition: Fair Play Team of the Tournament


The event is powered by As’phelelanga Sports Development, with sponsorships from Rotokotsa Apparel and Modimo Hase Bari Apparel, promising professional-level exposure and memorable rewards for standout performers.

The trip has been made possible by community contributions, local sponsors, and dedicated parents. It’s a reflection of how sport continues to unite people across generations and regions, fostering not only future stars but strong, socially-minded individuals.


As the academy travels to Parys, all eyes will be on the Fezile Dabi Stadium to witness how Potchefstroom’s finest hold their own among South Africa’s best.
