The Ventersdorp Road Pump Station has officially resumed normal operations following a planned shutdown to complete a major equipment upgrade. The JB Marks Local Municipality confirmed that the work was finalised successfully and that water supply across affected areas has stabilised.

Purpose of the Shutdown
The temporary interruption formed part of a scheduled infrastructure improvement project. Technicians installed a new 200 kW motor and pump, replacing older components that no longer met operational efficiency requirements.
According to the municipality, this upgrade was essential to improving long-term reliability at one of Potchefstroom’s key water distribution points. By strengthening the pump station’s capacity, officials aim to reduce service interruptions and ensure smoother delivery during periods of high demand.
Completion and Resumed Operations
Municipal engineers confirmed that the installation was completed according to schedule. Following final testing and safety checks, pumping operations were restored and the system returned to full functionality.
The municipality noted that the upgraded setup is already contributing to a more stable and consistent water flow to the public.
Impact on Residents
Several areas experienced reduced supply during the shutdown. In its update, the municipality expressed appreciation for the patience shown by residents and businesses affected during the maintenance period.
The smooth cooperation from the community enabled the project to proceed without delays, ensuring that full water services could be restored as efficiently as possible.

Looking Ahead
With the new motor and pump fully operational, the municipality expects improved performance at the Ventersdorp Road Pump Station for the foreseeable future. The upgrade forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen water infrastructure and prevent future service disruptions.
