The Vino Venison Festival is back for its 5th round at Bona Bona Game Lodge, and it’s still not pretending to be posh. Set for Saturday, 6 September 2025 at 12:00, this event offers an afternoon of wine-tasting, venison nibbling, and live entertainment that’s more “lekker local” than Michelin star.
What You Get for Your R500
R500 might not buy you much fuel these days, but at Bona Bona, it gets you a ticket to a full day of indulgence. Each ticket includes:
Unlimited wine tastings from 15 South African wine farms (yes, really)
15 curated venison tasters, all expertly paired
A tasting glass (to swirl, sniff, or pretend you know what “earthy notes” mean)
A tasting guide, in case you forget what you’ve already tried
Still water (for the responsible ones)
A goodie bag to take home, or to dig through on the drive back
75+ Wines, 15 Venison Dishes, and a Lot of Chat
Attendees can expect more than 75 wines on offer, coming from 15 different wine farms. Whether you're into big reds, crisp whites or just looking for something you can pronounce, there’ll be plenty to taste. Venison tasters will cover a broad spectrum, think biltong, stews, sliders and more.
You’ll want to pace yourself. It’s not a race, even if that one guy in cargo shorts insists it is.
Music? Of Course.
Live music will provide the background beat to your wine-induced philosophy. The lineup hasn’t been shouted from the rooftops yet, but expect a proper local vibe with acts that’ll get your feet tapping and your head bobbing (wine optional, but helpful).
