Ward 7 residents in Potchefstroom have been invited to attend a community public meeting this Thursday to discuss pressing local issues. Hosted by Ward Councillor André Klopper, the gathering aims to provide a platform for feedback on municipal services and specific challenges facing the area.
The meeting is scheduled to take place at the NG Kerk Noord on 5 March 2026, starting at 17:30 and concluding at 19:30.
Focus on Housing and Safety
A primary point on the evening’s agenda is a feedback session regarding illegal housing and the various housing-related challenges currently affecting the ward. Councillor Klopper recently issued statements expressing concern over the impact of unregulated accommodation on the community's safety and infrastructure.
In addition to housing, the meeting will cover:
Ward projects: Updates on planned improvements and general upkeep of the area.
Infrastructure: The status of street lights and their role in community safety.
Municipal Engagement: Feedback on current interactions with the JB Marks Municipality.
Communication: A look at ward groups and how residents can better receive official updates.
Community Participation
Residents are encouraged to attend to stay informed about developments in their immediate neighbourhood. The meeting serves as a direct line to the local councillor, allowing for a two-way conversation between the community and those representing them in the JB Marks Local Municipality.
Attendance is open to all interested parties within the ward, and no prior ticketing is required.
