The City of Matlosana Local Municipality has officially issued a notice regarding a scheduled water supply interruption affecting several sections of the Kanana township. The planned maintenance is set to take place on Wednesday, 27 May 2026, as part of the municipality’s ongoing efforts to maintain and stabilize the region’s water distribution network.

Scope and Duration of the Interruption
According to a statement released by the municipal communications department, the outage is scheduled to last for approximately 12 hours, commencing at 06:00 and expected to conclude by 18:00. The shutdown is a technical necessity to facilitate urgent repairs on a leakage identified in the 500 mm pump line.
By addressing the leak promptly, the Water Department aims to prevent further water loss and mitigate the risk of a more prolonged, unplanned collapse of the infrastructure. The 500 mm line serves as a primary artery for the area, making the intervention essential for long-term service reliability.
Affected Areas and Contingency Measures
The interruption will specifically impact residents residing in the following extensions:
Kanana Extension 6
Kanana Extension 13
Kanana Extension 14
Kanana Extension 15
To minimize the impact on daily households, the municipality has advised residents in these sectors to store an adequate supply of water for cooking, sanitation, and general domestic use prior to the 06:00 cutoff. In an effort to support the community during the 12-hour window, the City has committed to deploying water tankers to the affected extensions where necessary.
Official Communication and Support
The City of Matlosana has expressed its apologies for the unavoidable inconvenience caused by these repairs. This maintenance cycle is part of a broader strategy to ensure that the infrastructure within the Klerksdorp and surrounding municipal areas remains functional and efficient.
For residents seeking real-time updates or wishing to report specific challenges during the repair window, the municipality has provided direct contact channels through Ms. Ntswaki Makgetha, the Assistant Director of Corporate Communication. Inquiries can be directed to 018 487 8311 or via email at ntswaki@klerksdorp.org.
