A major disruption in water supply has gripped several neighborhoods within the JB Marks Local Municipality following a mechanical failure and flooding incident at the Ventersdorp Road Main Water Pump Station.
According to an urgent public notice issued by the municipality on Sunday, June 1, 2025, the breakdown occurred due to a mechanical fault in Pump 1, which led to severe flooding and rendered the pump station inoperable. This technical failure has caused an immediate halt in water distribution to multiple areas, leaving residents and institutions without a reliable water supply.

Affected Areas
The following locations are currently experiencing water outages:
Dassierand
Kanonniers Park
Witrand Hospital
Promosa
Mohadin
All extensions in the western part of Ikageng
Response Efforts Underway
Municipal maintenance teams have been dispatched to the site and are actively assessing the extent of the damage to both the pumps and the station’s electrical infrastructure. The municipality has urged residents in the affected zones to conserve water wherever possible until the issue is resolved.
"We understand the inconvenience this may cause and are doing everything possible to restore normal operations," the notice read. "Further updates will be provided as investigations progress and repairs are made."
Call for Caution and Cooperation
As the repairs continue, residents are strongly encouraged to limit water usage and report any water-related emergencies to municipal services. The JB Marks Local Municipality has apologized for the disruption and committed to transparency in ongoing communication with the public.
