The City of Matlosana Local Municipality has issued several updates regarding water supply interruptions currently affecting different parts of the region. Technical teams are addressing various issues ranging from equipment repairs to infrastructure maintenance to ensure service is restored to all residents.

Stilfontein Repairs Following Cable Theft
Residents in Stilfontein are currently experiencing low water pressure or no supply following a report of cable theft on JB Marks Road (Mines Road).
Maintenance work is already in progress and is expected to be finalized by 14:00 today, February 2. Once the work is complete, the water supply will be restored, though the municipality notes that the system will take some time to recover and reach normal pressure levels.
Maintenance and Repairs in Khuma and Kanana
Earlier updates from the weekend highlighted ongoing work in the Khuma and Kanana areas:
Khuma: A burst pump-line feeding the Khuma Reservoir has affected supply to Extensions 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7. Because the repair requires specialized attention, a final completion time has not yet been set. In the meantime, water tankers are roaming the affected extensions to assist residents.
Kanana: A mechanical issue with the pumps at the Kanana Reservoir caused interruptions for Extensions 1 through 11 (excluding 6 and 8). Repairs were scheduled for completion on Saturday evening to bring the reservoir back to full operation.
Status Summary
Area | Issue | Status/Estimated Completion |
Stilfontein | Cable Theft | Expected restoration after 14:00 today |
Khuma | Burst Pump-Line | Repairs ongoing; Water tankers available |
Kanana | Mechanical Breakdown | Maintenance initiated Saturday |
The Municipality apologizes for the inconvenience caused by these interruptions and is working to ensure all systems return to normal operation as quickly as possible.
The City of Matlosana Local Municipality continues to monitor these sites and will provide further updates as the systems stabilize. Residents are encouraged to use water sparingly once supply is restored to allow reservoirs to reach optimal levels.
