7 August: Cable Theft and Armed Reaction Arrest
In an early morning operation, CB Security's Armed Reaction Team identified a white Toyota Hilux Pick-up traveling without headlights on the N12. After the vehicle failed to stop, it was intercepted on the R54. Six suspects attempted to flee, with two apprehended immediately. A large quantity of suspected stolen copper cable was discovered in the vehicle. SAPS responded and took over the scene. The suspects and evidence were handed over for further investigation.
8 August: Vehicle Accidents and Road Conditions
N12 Accident – Johannesburg Direction: A vehicle accident caused major delays on the N12 toward Johannesburg. Authorities responded, and motorists were advised to proceed with caution.
Bult Area – Pothole Warning: Large potholes formed along Esselen Street due to an unresolved municipal water leak. Immediate repairs were not possible, and the matter has been reported multiple times. Road users were urged to drive carefully.
10 August: Two Vehicle Collisions Reported
Du Plooy & Peter Mokaba Streets: Emergency responders attended a vehicle accident at this intersection.

Fish Poaching Arrest – Viljoenskroon Road: CB Security's Armed Response Team apprehended four suspects transporting 200 illegally caught fish and poaching equipment. Copper Cable Theft – Bult Area: A suspect digging up cables near Albert Luthuli Street was caught through Mooirivier Beskerming’s CCTV surveillance. With the help of Cachet Park Security, the individual was detained and handed over to SAPS.
11 August: Veld Fire Suppression Efforts
A veld fire flared up next to the N12 towards Klerksdorp. The Working on Fire helicopter was deployed to support ground operations. No injuries or property damage were reported at the time of dispatch.
12 August: Rekindled Fire Demands Renewed Response
Despite prior efforts to contain the fire near Potchefstroom, flames reignited early on 12 August. The MDS Fire team responded once again. Public support messages were acknowledged, and the team expressed their continued commitment to fire containment.
13 August: Community Support Appeal for Fire Season Prep
The Potchefstroom Fire Protection Association called for community support in preparation for the fire season. Requested items included:
Bottled water, viennas, tomato sauce
5L ice cream containers (for food transport)
Lip balm, eye drops, nutrition bars
