Where to Stay in Klerksdorp: From Outskirts to City Center

Klerksdorp is a thriving city in South Africa’s North West Province, known for its mining and agricultural economy and a population of roughly 60,000.

Visitors to Klerksdorp will find a wide range of lodging options , including guesthouses, hotels, lodges and self-catering units , to suit different budgets and travel styles. Below we list recommended accommodations sorted by driving distance from the town center, beginning with those on the outskirts and moving closer in.

  • Rhebok Guest Farm (~10 km) – About a 10 km drive northwest of Klerksdorp, Rhebok Guest Farm offers affordable, farm-style lodging.   • St Andrews Guesthouse (~4 km) – Located in the quiet Flamwood suburb just northeast of the CBD, St Andrews is an upmarket guesthouse about 4 km from downtown Klerksdorp. It features nine individually decorated en-suite rooms, each with air-conditioning and DStv satellite TV.

    The property has a large swimming pool, an on-site licensed restaurant and a bar, as well as a small golf chipping green.   • Ukarimu Guest House (~3 km) – Ukarimu is a popular B&B-style guesthouse in the Wilkoppies suburb, about 2–3 km west of downtown Klerksdorp. The name means “hospitality” in Swahili, and the owners emphasize a tranquil, friendly atmosphere. This small establishment offers simply furnished double or twin rooms with private entrances, all equipped with mini-fridges, microwaves and complimentary Wi-Fi.   • Huis van Seisoene (Guest House, ~2 km) – Situated on De La Harpe Street in Wilkoppies, Huis van Seisoene is a boutique guest house about 2 km southwest of the city center (across from Sunningdale Hospital).   • Protea Hotel Klerksdorp (Hotel, ~2 km) – The Protea Hotel Klerksdorp is a full-service 3-star hotel just off the N12 highway, about 2 km east of the CBD. It offers 92 guest rooms (standard and suites) with all usual hotel amenities (air-con, TV, safe, tea/coffee station). The hotel has business and conference facilities, as well as an on-site bar and restaurant. Protea’s convenient location means guests can walk or drive to central city attractions in a few minutes. According to lodging info, the hotel is “on the pulse of the city centre,” only about two kilometers from Klerksdorp’s commercial core. This makes it an excellent choice for visitors needing easy access to downtown businesses or the casino complex, yet who prefer the predictability of a chain hotel. Protea Klerksdorp is part of the Marriott chain and is noted for reliable service and comfortable, well-maintained rooms.

  • Acres Inn Hotel (Hotel, ~1 km) – Acres Inn is a modern 4-star hotel located in the Freemanville area, roughly 1 km north of the city center on the N12 highway. The hotel’s website emphasizes that it is “in the centre of Klerksdorp on the N12”. It has 40 contemporary rooms equipped with ensuite bathrooms, free Wi-Fi, smart TVs, air-conditioning and private balconies. Guests here will find family rooms and facilities like a swimming pool, children’s playground and a restaurant (Acres Eats).   • Villa Maria Guest Lodge (Guest Lodge, <1 km) – Villa Maria is a multi-award-winning guest lodge located just off the N12 on the western edge of the CBD (mere blocks from Matlosana Mall and the casino). This upmarket lodge has 24 en-suite rooms on a landscaped property with white buildings and formal gardens.

    Villa Maria advertises itself as “amongst South Africa’s finest guest houses” and offers elegant accommodations and conference facilities in a romantic, villa-style setting. Its guests enjoy plush bedding, a breakfast buffet, and nearby access to Klerksdorp’s main attractions (shopping, dining, and hospital facilities are all minutes away). The lodge’s convenient central location (literally in town) and high standards of service make it a popular choice for business travelers and tourists alike. Its sister property is the Thaba Tshwene Lodge (further north), but Villa Maria itself is squarely in Klerksdorp, making walkable downtown access possible.
