Two learners from Potchefstroom Primary School proved that they have the "letter-perfect" skills required to compete with the best at the recent Mooirivier Spelling Bee Competition.
Desire Uniche (Grade 6) and Relebohile Setaka (Grade 7) delivered a standout performance in the final round of the competition, eventually securing a shared 3rd place finish.

Confidence Under Pressure
A Spelling Bee is a grueling test of memory, phonetics, and composure. Standing on a stage and spelling complex words correctly in front of judges requires immense confidence. Potchefstroom Primary noted that both Desire and Relebohile displayed exceptional poise throughout the various rounds of the competition.
Representing with Pride
The school expressed their immense pride in the duo’s hard work and dedication. Achieving a top-three finish in a regional competition like the Mooirivier Spelling Bee is a significant academic milestone and highlights the high standard of literacy and language skills fostered at Potch Primary.
The Value of Spelling
While it may seem like a simple game, competitive spelling helps learners improve their vocabulary, learn new concepts, and develop correct English usage, skills that will benefit them throughout their entire educational journey.
Well done to Desire and Relebohile for putting Potch Primary on the map!
