Foto: Potchefstroom Dorp Rugbyklub Facebook blad ‘n Ryk geskiedenis Potch Dorp Rugbyklub is in 1890 gestig wat dit die tweede oudste rugbyklub in Noordwes maak en een van die vyf oudstes Noord van die Oranjerivier. Die heel eerste wedstryd (teen Klerksdorp) het agter die Potchefstroom Inligtingskantoor plaasgevind en die manne het met trots in hulle blou en maroen op die veld gedraf. Sedert daardie wedstryd, het dit ‘n jaarlikse instelling geword dat Potch Dorp teen Klerksdorp speel vir ‘n beker. Piet Jordaan, wat al vanaf 1986 by die klub betrokke is, het met trots vertel hoeveel groot geeste by die klub gespeel het. Spelers soos Eugene Hare, Don Berry, Wessel van der Merwe, DP Swart en voormalige Springbok, Flip van der Merwe, was almal óf oud Potch Dorp spelers óf het hul rugbyloopbaan by Potch Dorp afgesluit. “Die regte persoon om eintlik mee te praat oor die ryk geskiedenis van ons klub is Sakkie Raath, die President van Potch Dorp Rugbyklub. Hy kan vir jou stories vertel wat almal al vergeet het.”  Aan die stuur van sake Drikus Viljoen is onlangs verkies as die nuwe Voorsitter van Potch Dorp Rugbyklub en is baie opgewonde oor hierdie jaar en nuwe seisoen, veral onder die leiding van nuwe hoofafrigter, Henry Stewart. “Alhoewel hy ‘n Vlak 3 afrigter is, is sy voete plat op die aarde”, het Drikus genoem.  Henry is self opgewonde oor die geleenthede wat Potch Dorp bied. Hy het as afrigter van die Pumas gedien en is die afgelope tien jaar betrokke by koshuisrugby by die NWU se Potchefstroom Kampus. Sy nuwe bloed bring nuwe motivering, nie net vir die bestuurslede nie, maar ook vir die spelers; hulle oefen harder en is meer gefokus vir die seisoen wat voorlê. As nuwe hoofafrigter het Henry ‘n missie en visie van waarheen hy die klub wil vat: “Potch Dorp Rugbyklub streef daarna om 'n omgewing en geleentheid te skep waar spelers van alle vlakke hulself ten volle op die rugbyveld kan uitleef, met die doel om elke speler 'n positiewe leerervaring te bied waar hulle hul weeklikse verbetering kan waarneem. Die klub beklemtoon die belangrikheid dat elke speler tuis moet voel, met respek, integriteit, dissipline, en kameraderie as die kernfondamente. Wat sê die spelers? Ons het so bietjie met van die spelers gesels wat al ‘n geruime tyd deel is van hierdie rugbyklub. “Die klub raak soos ‘n familie en almal leer mekaar ken op ‘n persoonlike vlak. Voormalige 100m en 200m atleet, Victer Vlok, noem dat dit ‘n groot eer en trots is om vir jou dorp te speel. Unlike its migratory counterparts, this Duck opts for a nomadic lifestyle, soaring across great distances in search of tranquil waters to call home. Its highly sociable nature unfolds outside the breeding season, where it joins large flocks, painting the skies with its cohesive formations. Taxonomic Odyssey The Red - Billed Teal's formal introduction to science was named in 1789 by Johann Friedrich Gmelin. Gmelin, a German naturalist, wove this species into the tapestry of Linnaeus's Systema Naturae, enriching the genus Anas with its vibrant presence. William Hinchliff Horsfall, het belangrike meule in Suid-Afrika, insluitend Potchefstroom, gevestig. Mnr. Sam Mottram het die Potchefstroom meule bestuur tot sy dood in 1939. Die Horsfall-gebou was een van die hoogste in Potchefstroom en het die weg gebaan vir verdere industriële ontwikkeling. Maalaktiwiteite het geëindig toe die South African Milling Company 'n groter meule in Klerksdorp opgerig en die Horsfall meule in 'n pakhuis verander het. Premier Milling het later die maatskappy oorgeneem en die "Snowflake"-gebou vir verspreiding gebruik tot 1996. Onder nuwe eienaarskap In 1997 het Albert Bothma, 'n sakeman en bierbrouer, die Snowflake-gebou gekoop en 'n bierbrouery, distilleerdery en verpakkingsaanleg daarin opgerig. Sy maatskappy, The Bourbon Street Brewing Company, het vinnig begin uitbrei, maar moes na drie jaar bedrywighede staak weens misdaad, insluitend 80 voertuigkapings en sewe gewapende rooftogte in 2003. Ondanks die trauma en gebrek aan ondersteuning, het Bothma by die Potchefstroomse Stadsraad aansoek gedoen om die gebou vir kommersiële en opvoedkundige doeleindes te gebruik. Die gebou word tans sporadies vir kunsuitstallings en privaat funksies gebruik. Dit is tydens hierdie mark waar entrepreneurs, kunstenaars en die gemeenskap bymekaar kom om ‘n heerlike oggend van samesyn te geniet.  Wat bied hierdie goudmyn? • Die Pool Klub is een van die nuutste toevoegings by Snowflake en is baie populêr onder die plaaslike gemeenskap - tot almal se verbasing.  • Daar is ook ‘n co-working space vir diegene wie uit die kantoor of huis wil kom en die aromas van Recharge Coffee Co.(https://www.facebook.com/rechargecoffeepotch) (https://www.facebook.com/rechargecoffeepotch)se koffie sal as genoeg motivering dien om elke week hier ‘n vergadering in te werk. This renaming mirrors its diverse range across countries like Eswatini, Kenya, and South Africa, to name a few. Its preferred abodes are as varied as its names: from subtropical or tropical dry forests to the unique landscapes of dry savanna and moist shrubland. Remarkably, the Eastern Nicator's family lineage has been a topic of much debate among ornithologists. At one time, it was classified with Shrikes and Bulbuls, reflecting its unique characteristics that blend traits from both families. However, this bird, particularly the Nicator gularis of Southern Africa, boasts a distinct identity that arguably merits a family of its own.
