Each year they take a migratory route thousands of kilometers long to Southern Africa, entering tropical Africa via the Red Sea. Migrating at great heights these birds often migrate with the European Bee - Eater in loose - knit flocks, mainly by day. Their primary green plumage ranges from olive to emerald, harmoniously blending with the blue of their wings and the turquoise of their throat and chest.
