Klavierlesse op agt, kitaar op 14 en toe begin sy self liedjies skryf – duidelik ‘n natuurlike talent. Na skool het sy informele optredes begin doen in kerke en restaurante, maar haar talent is vinnig raakgesien. Toe Laurika Rauch haar liedjies hoor, het sy Bly Nog So Bietjie en Die Reis op haar eie albums opgeneem. Nie ‘n slegte begin nie, né? Marius se storie is ‘n bietjie anders. Hy het ‘n korporatiewe loopbaan van 20 jaar gehad voordat hy uiteindelik besluit het om sy liefde vir musiek voltyds te volg. Sy pa was deel van ‘n boeremusiek orkes en sy ma was ook baie musikaal – musiek het dus in sy bloed gevloei, al het dit ‘n paar dekades geneem om dit voltyds na te jaag. Die Geboorte van Coffee Snobs In 2009 is Marius en Vernette getroud en uiteindelik het hulle in 2012 Coffee Snobs gestig. Aanvanklik was hulle ‘n groep van vier, maar uiteindelik het hulle besluit om as ‘n duo voort te gaan. In 2014 het hulle hul eerste enkelsnit vrygestel – en dit was ‘n treffer! Dit het gelei tot ‘n vollengte album met Wicus Struwig as vervaardiger en Vernette as mede-vervaardiger. Een van hul grootste mylpale was toe twee van hul liedjies in die Afrikaanse film ‘n Man Soos My Pa gebruik is – Draai Terug en Bloed Is Dikker As Water. Dis nie net ‘n groot prestasie nie, maar dit bevestig ook dat Coffee Snobs se musiek diep sny en ‘n emosionele reaksie by luisteraars uitlok.
