  • Clean Sweep in the Castle: Dominant South Africa 'A' Crush England Lions to Claim 2-0 Series Triumph

South African cricket is celebrating a massive red-ball milestone following a masterclass performance by the country's next generation of Proteas stars. Image: Cricket South Africa Cricket South Africa (CSA) officially confirmed that South Africa ‘A’ wrapped up an emphatic 8-wicket victory over the visiting England Lions on Day 3 of the final four-day clash, securing a flawless 2-0 clean sweep in the highly competitive series. The clinical nature of the victory highlights the immense depth currently brewing in South Africa’s first-class structures, as the hosts entirely outclassed an English squad packed with county championship standouts. Day 3 Dominance: A Clinical All-Round Display Entering Day 3 with a clear blueprint for victory, the SA ‘A’ bowling unit wasted no time in dismantling the remaining English resistance. The bowlers showcased immaculate line and length, utilizing the local pitch conditions to perfection, extracting sharp bounce and late movement to trigger a decisive batting collapse in the Lions' second innings. Chasing a modest target on the third afternoon, the South African top-order batting unit approached the crease with absolute intent. A couple of steady, aggressive partnerships quickly broke the back of the run chase. Despite losing two wickets along the way, the hosts crossed the finish line with complete composure, sparking wild celebrations in the camp. A Comprehensive Team Effort What made this series win so historic was the balanced contribution from the entire squad. Rather than relying on individual brilliance, the tour showcased a complete team effort across all three departments: The Batting Unit: Grounded by patient, gritty centuries and solid top-order foundations that wore down the English attack over long sessions. The Bowling Attack: Led by a relentless pace cartel and complemented by disciplined spin variations that took 20 wickets under pressure in both matches. The Fielding Unit: Sharp, energetic, and clinical in the slips, ensuring that every half-chance was converted into a crucial breakthrough. • Five-Star Springboks Silence Nairobi to Retain African Crown

The Springbok Women cemented their status as the undisputed queens of continental rugby, securing their fifth consecutive Rugby Africa Women’s Cup title with a gritty 35-20 victory over the Kenya Lionesses in Nairobi. Facing a hostile home crowd and a fiercely determined opponent, the South Africans overcame a halftime deficit by executing a clinical second-half tactical blueprint. The hard-fought win not only preserves their regional dominance but also rounds off a highly successful developmental campaign on a perfect note. Lionesses Roar Early in Tactical Chess Match The first half unfolded as a high-stakes tactical battle, with South Africa deliberately employing a deep kicking game to pin Kenya back and avoid playing rugby in their own territory. While the "Bok Women" dominated territory, their execution was heavily disrupted by Kenya's ferocious work at the breakdown, where the hosts forced crucial turnovers. The scoring opened with a display of pure determination from South African right wing Alichia Arries, who powered through a cluster of defenders to score in the corner, allowing Jakkie Cilliers to slot a magnificent touchline conversion. However, Kenya hit back via centre Faith Livoi, who capitalized on a fortunate bounce from a kick ahead. A subsequent penalty from flyhalf Sinaida Mokaya saw the Lionesses edge ahead 8-7 at the interval, leaving the tournament decider resting on a knife-edge. Bomb Squad and Clinical Burst Decides the Crown Assistant coach Franzel September’s pre-match strategy to split the bench with six forwards and two backs proved to be the masterstroke. As the Kenyan defensive line began to tire under the relentless pressure of the South African pick-and-drive, the Springbok Women unleashed a devastating 17-minute blitz in the third quarter. Quick ball recycling and superior numbers out wide resulted in three unanswered tries: Naima Hlatshwayo pierced the midfield to restore the lead. Logan Welman continued her stellar tournament form by crashing over from the base. Jakkie Cilliers finished sharply on the left wing to stretch the advantage. The resilient Kenyans launched a late counter-attack, capitalizing on an errant South African kick to close the deficit to just two points with five minutes remaining. Showing immense composure under pressure, Cilliers calmed South African nerves with two clutch penalty goals, before replacement Ntsako Mbombi sealed the championship after the siren with her maiden Test try from a powerful lineout drive. Tournament Statistics & Top Performers The victory concluded an incredibly productive campaign for the South Africans, who balanced winning silverware with blooding nine new international debutants. Category Player / Team Stat Top Tournament Scorer Jakkie Cilliers 46 Points (2 Tries, 2 Pens, 15 Cons) Top Try Scorer Alichia Arries 4 Tries Total Team Tries South Africa 22 Tries (Tournament Highest) Final Whistle This championship victory will taste particularly sweet for the Springbok Women due to the sheer adversity they had to conquer on the road. By rectifying the errors of their previous outing against Uganda and demonstrating elite game management in front of a raucous Kenyan crowd, this relatively young squad proved they possess the mental fortitude required for the international stage. With a short break on the horizon, the team returns to South Africa with three wins from three matches before pivoting toward their next major challenge: a highly anticipated two-Test home series against the USA. • City of Matlosana Steps Up Economic Partnerships and Public Accountability

The City of Matlosana is moving forward on a dual track of aggressive economic revitalization and heightened legislative accountability to position itself as a premier, investment-ready hub in the North West Province. On Friday, 29 May 2026, the municipality gathered key public and private sector leaders at the Rio Casino in Klerksdorp for a "Power to Partnership" Business Breakfast, unveiling major developmental goals in renewable energy, township economics, and a R1.8 million public-safety partnership with Harmony Gold Mine. Balancing this commercial drive with institutional transparency, the municipality simultaneously issued crucial public notices on Monday, 1 June 2026, opening both its Adjusted 2025/26 Service Delivery and Budget Implementation Plan (SDBIP) and the new Draft 2026/27 performance frameworks for public scrutiny and community input. Municipal Leadership Outlines Vision for Strategic Alliances and Growth The City of Matlosana has embarked on a proactive strategy to enhance its economic competitiveness and foster stronger alliances with the private sector. Through targeted stakeholder engagements and an emphasis on collaborative governance, the local municipality aims to position itself as a premier investment-friendly destination within the North West Province and the broader South African landscape. This shifted focus highlights a concerted effort by leadership to tackle local service delivery issues while opening up sustainable avenues for inclusive growth, infrastructure development, and Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprise (SMME) empowerment. Business Community and Council Align at Networking Session In a bid to bridge the gap between government planning and private industry, the City of Matlosana hosted a "Power to Partnership" Business Breakfast Networking Session on Friday, 29 May 2026, at the Rio Casino in Klerksdorp. Facilitated by Programme Director Mr. Daddy Khuselo, the event served as a platform for open dialogue between administrative heads, political leaders, and prominent figures from local industries. Opening the session, Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Community Service, Mr. Kgosietsile Seitshiro, emphasized that long-term job creation and sustainable growth are impossible without a coordinated front between the state and private businesses. In his keynote address, Executive Mayor Cllr Fikile Mahlophe expanded on this vision, detailing the municipality's core developmental priorities. According to Cllr Mahlophe, the local economic agenda will focus heavily on: Renewable Energy: Capitalizing on solar power and battery storage initiatives. Asset Revitalization: Upgrading and commercializing underutilized municipal properties. Diversification: Bolstering traditional mining sectors with investments in agro-processing, tourism, and the township economy. Addressing immediate safety and infrastructure concerns within the Klerksdorp Central Business District (CBD), Mayor Mahlophe announced a R1.8 million partnership with Harmony Gold Mine. This funding will kickstart the first phase of the Klerksdorp CBD CCTV project, which features a refurbished control room and systematic camera installations. Managed under Acting Director for Local Economic Development (LED) Dr. Keaobaka Boikanyo, the security rollout will proceed across two to three phases with completion targeted by 2028. To maintain momentum, the Mayor proposed establishing quarterly formal engagements with local businesses, recognizing them as the municipality’s foundational investors. Investment Portfolios and Sector Insights Highlighted The networking session also spotlighted immediate, practical investment options within the region. Mrs. Tebogo Ramone, Assistant Director for LED, presented a portfolio of "bankable" investment projects designed to showcase sectors ready for immediate public-private financing. The event featured structured panel discussions allowing local enterprises to voice operational challenges and market insights. The first round of discussions included representatives from: Bond Equipment Harmony Gold Mine Mekgabo B Creations (Jewellery Manufacturing) Danika Spa Mohau Molotsi Civil (Civil Engineering and Development) A subsequent panel brought in viewpoints from the transport, automotive, and entertainment sectors, featuring participants such as Mr. Molefe from a local Klerksdorp CBD motor dealership, Mega Works and Showtime Entertainment, MXN Development, Mr. Shakes Mayekani from the South African National Taxi Council (SANTACO), and Ms. Lucy Mgwabeni of Yonica Trading and Projects, who spoke on the critical role of women in leadership. A final accountability panel, comprising Mayor Mahlophe, Dr. Boikanyo, Director of Community Service Mr. Phehello Setona, and Director of Infrastructure Mr. Nelson Mongale—responded directly to the concerns raised. The municipal executives provided clarity on bureaucratic processes, upcoming infrastructure projects, and formal pathways for partnership, underscoring Council’s commitment to transparent communication. The investment appeal of Matlosana remains grounded in its geographical positioning along the N12 Development Corridor, which seamlessly connects Gauteng, the Northern Cape, and Botswana. This corridor reduces logistical costs and enhances market access via robust rail, road, water, and energy networks. Supported by an established labor pool and lower relative costs for land and utilities, the municipality intends to utilize these structural advantages to attract large-scale developers and nurture local SMMEs. The session concluded with messages of support from the Dr. Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality MMC for LED, Mr. Ald. Raymond Mampe, and a closing address from Municipal Manager Ms. Lesego Seametso, who called for structural renewal and a diligent focus on foundational services like road maintenance and grass cutting to restore the city's operational reputation. • Bulls and Stormers Charge into Semi-Finals as SA Hopes Head North

The landscape of the 2025/26 Vodacom United Rugby Championship (URC) has been whittled down to the elite four following a weekend of high-intensity quarter-final action. South African interest remains potent as the Vodacom Bulls and the DHL Stormers secured their passage to the semi-finals with dominant home displays, while the Fidelity SecureDrive Lions saw their fairytale season reach a clinical end at the hands of the defending champions in Ireland. As the competition enters its penultimate stage, the bracket has held firm to the league standings, pitting the top four seeds against one another in a cross-hemisphere showdown for a place in the Grand Final. Vodacom Bulls: Loftus Masterclass Sets Up Scottish Expedition Final Score: Vodacom Bulls 45 – 14 Munster The Vodacom Bulls produced an authoritative performance at Loftus Versfeld, dismantling the Irish province Munster in a six-try rout that underscored their status as a championship threat. Entering the match with a record of ten wins from their last eleven outings, the Pretoria-based franchise dominated from the opening whistle, combining a crushing set-piece performance with a high-tempo attacking game that the visitors could not contain. The foundation of the victory was laid at the scrum, where the Bulls' pack overwhelmed their Munster counterparts repeatedly. This physical supremacy allowed the Bulls to dictate the pace of the game, a rhythm further enabled by the firm officiating of referee Andrea Piardi, who prevented Munster from slowing down the contest through injury stoppages. The Bulls' loose trio of Cameron Hanekom, Marcell Coetzee, and Elrigh Louw provided a brutal physical edge, while Embrose Papier snared a brace of tries in a Man of the Match performance that moved him toward the top of the competition’s try-scoring charts. The Bulls' backline functioned with clinical precision in the first half. Tries from Papier, Kurt-Lee Arendse, Johan Grobbelaar, and Hanekom established a 31–14 lead by the interval. Although the second half transitioned into more of an arm-wrestle, Papier’s length-of-the-field intercept try and a powerful finish from Stravino Jacobs, returning to peak fitness following a long injury layoff, extinguished any hope of a Munster comeback. The Bulls crossed the line three additional times only to have the scores disallowed for obstruction, illustrating the sheer volume of opportunities created. Coach Johan Ackermann’s men now prepare to travel to Edinburgh. While their opponents, Glasgow Warriors, usually play at Scotstoun, the match has been moved to Murrayfield due to stadium upgrades for the Commonwealth Games. The Bulls view this venue shift to a grass surface as a significant tactical advantage, as they look to avenge recent losses to Franco Smith’s side in both the URC and the Investec Champions Cup. DHL Stormers: Mother City Dominance Marred by Injury Blows Final Score: DHL Stormers 44 – 21 Cardiff The DHL Stormers utilized the familiar confines of the DHL Stadium to secure a convincing win over Cardiff, though the victory came at a massive personnel cost. The Capetonians brought a level of physicality that Cardiff struggled to match, scoring five tries to secure their semi-final berth. However, the post-match atmosphere was somber following injuries to several key international stars. Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, widely regarded as the most in-form young player in world rugby, sustained a suspected ankle fracture while scoring a try. He was seen leaving the stadium on crutches and is expected to be sidelined for three to four months, a blow that affects not only the Stormers' semi-final hopes but likely his availability for the Springboks' upcoming international season. Adding to director of rugby John Dobson’s concerns, wing Seabelo Senatla was ruled out of the semi-finals due to a category-one concussion sustained late in the match. Senatla had been in exceptional form, and his absence leaves a void in the Stormers' outright pace. Despite the injuries, the Stormers’ performance was professional. Their forward pack laid a heavy platform, and Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu’s tactical kicking kept Cardiff pinned in their own territory before his exit. Jurie Matthee stepped in at flyhalf for the final thirty minutes and delivered a composed performance, which will be vital as the team prepares to travel to Dublin. The Stormers also face concerns over inside centre Dan du Plessis, who played through an injury for much of the second half. The Stormers now face the daunting task of traveling to the Aviva Stadium to face Leinster. Because they dropped to third on the log following their final-round loss to Cardiff in Wales, they have surrendered the home semi-final they had occupied for much of the season. They must now win at a venue where Leinster has been nearly invincible this year to keep their dreams of a second URC title alive. Fidelity SecureDrive Lions: A Historic Season Meets a Dublin Wall Final Score: Leinster 59 – 10 Fidelity SecureDrive Lions The Fidelity SecureDrive Lions’ most successful URC campaign to date ended in a sobering defeat at the Aviva Stadium. While the scoreline was one-sided, it did not fully reflect the progress the Johannesburg franchise has made this season. Finishing seventh on the log and winning the South African Shield for the first time, the Lions secured qualification for next season’s Investec Champions Cup, a major milestone for a team with one of the smaller budgets in the competition. The Lions were competitive in the opening exchanges, but the depth and clinical execution of a full-strength Leinster side eventually proved insurmountable. Playing away from their fortress at Ellis Park, the Lions struggled to replicate the high-altitude, fast-paced game that saw them defeat the Stormers, Sharks, and Bulls earlier in the year. Their dismal record outside of South Africa, zero wins from nine matches across all competitions, remains the primary hurdle for the squad to overcome if they are to transition from playoff qualifiers to genuine title contenders. The Lions entered the quarter-final missing several key players, including Ruan Venter, Morne van den Berg, and Asenathi Ntlabakanye. Without their primary bruisers and tactical organizers, the Johannesburg side fell victim to a Leinster backlash following the Irish side’s recent Champions Cup final loss. While the result was a "walloping," the Lions can reflect on a season where they established a formidable home base and developed several players who have caught the eye of the national selectors. Semi-Final Fixtures and Tactical Outlook The semi-final stage features two heavyweight clashes on Saturday, June 6, 2026. The top four seeds have survived, ensuring the highest possible quality for the penultimate round of the competition. Glasgow Warriors vs Vodacom Bulls Venue: Scottish Gas Murrayfield, Edinburgh Time: 15:30 SAST Surface: Grass The Bulls travel to Scotland confident that the move to Murrayfield works in their favor. Glasgow’s dominance is often predicated on the fast 4G pitch at Scotstoun; however, the grass surface at the national stadium is more suited to the Bulls' traditional power game. Johan Ackermann has emphasized the need for better discipline and "patience with the ball," noting that Glasgow remains clinical in punishing errors. The Bulls will be without winger Sergeal Petersen due to a shoulder injury but expect to welcome back SA Under-20 star Cheswill Jooste to bolster their outside backs. Leinster vs DHL Stormers Venue: Aviva Stadium, Dublin Time: 18:30 SAST Surface: Grass The Stormers face the toughest assignment in the competition: beating Leinster in a home knockout match. Leinster enters the game fresh from an emphatic win over the Lions and motivated to redeem their recent European final loss. John Dobson will be without Feinberg-Mngomezulu, Senatla, and Cobus Reinach, meaning the Stormers must rely on their grit and defensive systems to stay in the fight. While the Stormers have shown they can win away from home, with notable victories in Pretoria and Treviso this season, the loss of their first-choice halfbacks makes them significant underdogs in the Irish capital. Final Whistle The 2025/26 season has reaffirmed the competitive nature of the URC, with the South African franchises continuing to play a central role in the tournament's narrative. As the Bulls and Stormers head north, they carry the hopes of a nation looking to secure a third title in five years. The margins for error have vanished; only the most clinical and disciplined will survive the semi-final gauntlet to reach the Grand Final. The iconic Ikageng Stadium was a hive of high-octane energy, intense rivalry, and community celebration yesterday, Sunday, 31 May 2026, as it hosted the highly anticipated Potchefstroom Celebrity Soccer Tournament 2026. Masterfully spearheaded by visionary local tournament organiser Tshepiso Mogorosi, the star-studded event brought an unforgettable day of sports and entertainment to the Tlokwe region. Local media personalities, content creators, and community icons traded their microphones, cameras, and studio gear for football boots, putting on an exceptional show for the local fans who packed the stands. The tournament, hosted in proud partnership with the Katlego Mhlanzi Foundation, was brought to life by main sponsors The Go-To Guy and aQuellé, delivering continuous action from the morning kick-offs straight through to the final whistle. Dual-Octane Drama: Pitch vs. Tarmac While the grassroots football battles raged on the main pitch, the stadium's parking space was transformed into a high-adrenaline arena. Kasi 2 Kasi Stunt Riders hosted their jaw-dropping Umdlalo Wama Riders & Spinning Competition, pulling massive crowds to the tarmac. Fans were treated to a double-feature spectacle: the scream of "Spinning Boni" (custom spinning bicycles), high-octane bicycle stunt skills, and local street dance battles keeping the atmosphere electric while the football tournament found its kings. The Road to Glory: How the Day Panned Out The high-stakes knockout format left no room for error, with teams having to bring maximum strategy and flair to the pitch right from the start. The Semi-Finals: The tournament kicked off with a brilliant clash where Promosa Media FC, under the masterful tactical guidance of Coach Keita, booked their ticket to the grand finale by neutralizing a dangerous Mshaya Media FC team. In the second semi-final, Kasi Media FC (led by Coach Thomas "Fxrdz Shelby" Ngwato) used their signature local flair to edge past a resilient Youth Courage ASFC. The 3rd Place Play-Off: Determined not to leave Ikageng Stadium empty-handed, Youth Courage ASFC put on a spirited, courageous performance in the afternoon heat. They successfully defeated Mshaya Media FC to secure a proud 3rd Place finish. The Grand Final: The main event saw a spectacular regional derby between Promosa Media FC and Kasi Media FC. Promosa Media FC’s tightly-knit defensive unit, marshaled by their captain Pako, managed to silence Kasi Media FC's dangerous attack. Combining structured defending with lethal counter-attacking execution, Promosa Media FC officially ran out winners to lift the spectacular 2026 trophy. With Tshepiso Mogorosi pulling the strings behind the scenes, the event solidified its place as a landmark date on the local social calendar. As the winter frost begins to settle over Potchefstroom, the warmth of yesterday's community spirit at Ikageng Stadium will undoubtedly be felt for months to come. Congratulations to Promosa Media FC and all the participating teams on a spectacular showcase!

  • Potch Women Dorp Rugbyklub Celebrates Excellence at the 2026 Nala Awards Ceremony

In what has become a hallmark of the club’s social and professional calendar, the Nala Awards Ceremony served as a prestigious closing chapter to a season defined by grit, growth, and the unbreakable bond of the rugby family. This year’s event was not merely a presentation of trophies but a profound celebration of the individuals, players, coaches, management, and loyal supporters, who collectively breathe life into the Potch Dorp Women’s Rugby program. Against a backdrop of elegantly decorated tables and the rich heritage of one of South Africa’s most storied clubs, the afternoon was a testament to the "One Club, One Pride, One Family" ethos that remains the heartbeat of Potch Forever. A Night of Recognition and Reflection The Nala Awards are named with purpose, embodying the strength and leadership often associated with the lioness. As the 2026 season concludes, the ceremony provided a necessary moment of reflection. The journey through the year was one of intense competition and physical demand, yet the atmosphere on May 28 was one of joyous relief and mutual respect. Attendees were treated to a beautifully curated venue, where the rustic charm of the clubhouse was transformed into an awards hall worthy of the athletes it houses. Beyond the accolades, the event served as a platform to thank the "unsung heroes" of the club. From the meticulous venue setup to the high-quality catering that kept spirits high, the behind-the-scenes effort was acknowledged as the foundation upon which the day's success was built. It is this infrastructure of volunteerism and passion that allows the Potch Dorp Women's team to thrive on the pitch, knowing they have a dedicated community standing firmly behind them. Honoring the Standout Performers of 2026 The highlight of the ceremony was, undoubtedly, the announcement of the individual awards. These honors recognize those who went above and beyond the call of duty, setting the standard for excellence within the squad. Award Category Recipient Player of the Year Lara De Wet Longest Serving Players Lizzy Abrahams & Verana Van Heerden Most Improved Player Lyneve Piek Backline Player of the Year Micehelle Booysen Forward Player of the Year Louise Venter Lara De Wet walked away with the evening’s top honor, the Player of the Year. De Wet’s season was characterized by clinical execution and leadership that inspired her teammates during the most grueling matches of the year. In the engine room of the scrum, Louise Venter was recognized as the Forward Player of the Year, a nod to her tireless work rate and physical dominance at the breakdown. Conversely, Micehelle Booysen took home the Backline Player of the Year award, celebrating her vision, speed, and ability to puncture defensive lines. Perhaps the most emotional moment of the evening was the recognition of Lizzy Abrahams and Verana Van Heerden as the Longest Serving Players. In a modern sporting era where player movement is common, their loyalty to the Potch Dorp jersey serves as a beacon for younger recruits. Furthermore, the growth of the club was highlighted by Lyneve Piek, who received the Most Improved Player award, proving that the coaching structures at Potchefstroom Dorp are successfully nurturing raw talent into refined skill. Building a Legacy: One Pride, One Family The Nala Awards Ceremony is more than a look back; it is a strategic look forward. Every recipient of the 2026 awards represents a pillar upon which the future of Potch Dorp Women’s Rugby will be built. The "Lionesses" have shown that they are not just a team, but a developmental powerhouse that values character as much as physical prowess. The dedication shown by the management team in organizing such a high-caliber event reflects the professional trajectory the club has embraced. As the players head into the off-season to recover and regroup, the memories of the 2026 Nala Awards will serve as fuel. The club remains committed to fostering an environment where every woman who wears the jersey feels part of a larger legacy. The message from the club leadership was clear: while the trophies may sit on mantels, the true reward is the friendship and the shared history of the 2026 campaign. Final Whistle The event successfully bridged the gap between the hard-fought battles on the field and the celebratory unity of the clubhouse. With a roster of talented award winners and a support system that is second to none, the Lionesses are well-positioned to take on the challenges of the coming years. The club extends its deepest gratitude to all who made the season and this ceremony possible. Under the banner of "Potch Forever," the journey continues, fueled by the excellence celebrated on this unforgettable afternoon. • National Child Protection Week 2026: May 29 to June 5

Under the resolute 2026 theme, “Working together in ending violence against children,” South Africa today officially launched National Child Protection Week (CPW). Running from May 29 to June 5, the campaign opens with a powerful call for collective action, reminding the nation that the safety, dignity, and well-being of every child are constitutional imperatives that must be driven by active community participation. This year’s focus shifts heavily toward the "Green Ribbon" initiative, urging citizens to visibly pledge their commitment to creating a society where children are shielded from harm. Image: The Go-To Guy Ceations Understanding the Scope of Child Protection Week National Child Protection Week is more than an annual observance; it is a nationwide mobilization effort. It serves as a reminder that protection is a continuous duty that manifests in every sphere of life, including homes, schools, public streets, and increasingly, digital platforms. The primary objective is to create a culture of transparency where the "vanguards of childhood" (parents, teachers, and neighbors) are equipped with the knowledge to recognize and prevent maltreatment. Breaking the Cycle of Silence A core message of the 2026 campaign is that abuse and neglect thrive in environments of silence. To counter this, the Department of Social Development and its partners are emphasizing several key pillars for community engagement: Active Listening: Encouraging adults to listen to children without judgment and to believe their accounts of mistreatment. Digital Vigilance: Addressing the rise of online grooming and cyberbullying as critical frontiers in child safety. Reporting Pathways: Streamlining the process for citizens to report concerns, ensuring that the burden of protection does not rest solely on the victim. The Green Ribbon: A Promise in Motion The public is urged to wear a Green Ribbon throughout the week as a physical manifestation of their promise to protect. The ribbon is a symbol of life, growth, and the "green light" for the rights of the youth. By wearing it, South Africans acknowledge that they will not look away when a child is in danger and that they stand as a barrier between the child and potential harm. The Legislative Foundation While the week focuses on social mobilization, it is grounded in Section 28 of the South African Constitution, which mandates that a child's best interests are of paramount importance in every matter concerning them. Government officials have reiterated that while laws provide the framework, it is the "eyes and ears" of the community that ensure these laws are felt on the ground. Image: The Go-To Guy Ceations As the country embarks on this week-long series of workshops, marches, and educational drives, the ultimate goal remains a permanent shift in societal norms. National Child Protection Week 2026 serves as a vital reset for the national conscience, reminding every citizen that the intervention of a single individual can change the trajectory of a child’s life. Through the simple act of wearing a green ribbon and the complex act of standing together, South Africa aims to foster an environment where every child can thrive without fear. #ChildProtectionWeek2026 #WorkingTogether #WearTheGreenRibbon #SafeChildrenSA 🛡️🤝🌻💚🎗

  • Ware Gimmie-Karakter: Skoolgemeenskap Bring Hoop Met Suksesvolle Bloedskenkprojek

• Potch Lets Help: Alexis Duvenhage Represent South Africa on the 2026 Netherlands Hockey Tour!

Dreams are not built overnight. They are forged in the quiet frost of early mornings, through hours of grueling practices, personal sacrifices, unyielding determination, and the unwavering belief that hard work will one day open the door to something truly extraordinary. Image: BackaBuddy For local youth hockey sensation Alexis Duvenhage, that door has just swung wide open. Alexis has officially been selected to participate in the prestigious 2026 Into Africa Sports Invitational Hockey Tour to the Netherlands, running from 28 September to 6 October 2026. This elite selection is an honor reserved for only a handful of the most dedicated young athletes in the country. More Than a Trip: A Launchpad for the Future The Netherlands is widely regarded as one of the absolute epicenters of world hockey. For Alexis, this international tour is far more than just a sports trip, it is a once-in-a-lifetime development opportunity to: Train Under Masters: Work directly with world-class, international coaches to sharpen technical skills and tactical understanding. Global Competition: Go head-to-head against high-level European youth teams, testing South African grit against international styles of play. Scouting & Experience: Gain invaluable international exposure that could shape a future professional or university hockey career forever. This selection is the ultimate validation of Alexis's years of discipline, passion, and profound commitment to the sport. The Final Hurdle: Rallying the Community for R60,000 Behind every young athlete chasing a dream is a support system doing everything possible to turn that vision into reality. However, stepping onto the global stage comes with significant financial requirements. The comprehensive cost of the tour includes international flights, specialized accommodation, ground transport, meals, tournament entry fees, high-performance training kits, and official tour gear. To ensure Alexis doesn't miss out on this life-changing opportunity due to financial constraints, a crowdfunding campaign has been launched to raise R60,000. We are reaching out to our community, businesses, friends, family, and sports enthusiasts to help us bridge this gap. Every single contribution, no matter the size, brings Alexis one step closer to standing proudly on international turf and representing South African youth hockey with pride, passion, and determination. This tour is not just about the game of hockey. It is about personal growth, broadening horizons, and showing a dedicated young athlete that when you work hard enough, your community will stand behind you to help you conquer the world.
