Vyftien kilometer buite Potchefstroom, in die rigting van Vereeniging, vind jy Hebron, ‘n opheffingsentrum vir meer as 100 individue vir wie die lewe ‘n lelike streep getrek het. Maar dit is ook op hierdie perseel waar sommiges weer ‘mens’ word en waar Hebron vir hulle as wegspringplek dien. Sy het nie die nodige finansies gehad nie, maar elke keer wanneer sy haar Bybel oopgemaak het, het sy die antwoorde en al hoe meer bevestiging gekry. Vanaf die stigting van Hebron in 2002 het die Here jaar na jaar, week na week voorsien. Marius Terblanche het onlangs by Hebron aangesluit en alhoewel hy nog besig is om sy voete te vind, het die bestuur groot planne vir hom en is hy besig om dag vir dag sy verhouding met elke inwoner te verbeter. ‘n Tipiese dag Die dag begin vroeg vir Hebron se inwoners. Om 05h00 gaan die wekkers af, 05h30 word ontbyt bedien en net so voor 07h00 het hulle oggend Godsdiens. Dan is dit by die ‘huis’ uit. Sommige boere in die omgewing kom laai van die mans op om hulle die dag op die plaas te help en laai hulle dan weer net so voor 18h00 af by Hebron. Dié mans wat nie op die plase help nie, werk in die groentetuine, is doenig by die varke of help met onderhoud in en om die perseel. Om die beurt is die vroue in die eetsale of help in die kombuis. Marius vertel van ‘n man wat hy by Hebron leer ken het. Dié man het vantevore oorsee gewoon en na sy terugkeer homself in Potchefstroom gevestig waar hy sy eie besigheid begin het. “Toe hy sien, toe is hy onderdeur en sit hy op straat”, vertel Marius. Hierdie man het by Hebron uitgekom en “toe het hy weer sy base”. Hy het skoon klere gehad en kon sodoende weer gaan vir onderhoude; waar hy einde ten laaste ‘n pos as ‘n bestuurder gekry het. “Dié wat gehelp wil word, word vinnig gehelp.” ‘n Hegte gemeenskap, ondanks beperkte ruimte Hebron voorsien nuwe inwoners van die basiese behoeftes, skoon beddegoed, handdoeke en ander nodige behoeftes soos tandepasta. Alhoewel, soos die tyd verloop, moet inwoners hul eie goedjies begin koop - die aanvanklike middels is net om hul op die been te kry en hul nie leë hande te laat nie. Die opset is amper soos dié van ‘n koshuis; daar is kamers wat gedeel word, ‘n gemeenskaplike eetsaal en ‘n kapel waar hul Sondae kerkdienste bywoon. Hul hele lewe moet in ‘n kas en onder ‘n bed pas, terwyl hul ‘n kamer met vier of vyf ander inwoners deel, so die spasie is maar beperk. Ondanks die beperkte ruimte, bevorder dit 'n hegte gemeenskap onder die inwoners. Getroude paartjies het hul eie kamers en die ander mans en vrouens bly apart. So entjie weg, is Immanuel - ‘n selfsorg kampterrein waar geestelike en kerkkampe aangebied word.   Foto's (Verskaf): Die fasiliteite en landskap by Hebron Uitdagings wat julle in die gesig staar Daar was geen huiwering toe Marius antwoord “krag” nie. Die kragrekening is elke maand ‘n astronomiese bedrag. Alternatiewe, goedkoper oplossings is alreeds in die pyplyn - hulle het donkies aangeskaf en beoog om dit binne die volgende week te koppel. Die geyser trek die meeste krag, so dit is die grootste uitdaging; veral gedurende die wintermaande. Hulle kyk ook daarna om sonpanele te installeer, indien dit enigsings finansieel moontlik en haalbaar gaan wees.  Toe voëlgriep tref, het hul hul weeklikse eier donasies ook verloor en alhoewel hul baie varke het, kan ‘n mens nie die heeltyd varkvleis eet nie omrede varke die gifstowwe wat hul inneem in hul vet stoor - wat verbruikers dan eet. Die plan is om die volgende varke te verkoop en ‘n bees of ‘n paar skapies te koop en indien daar genoeg geld is, so paar hennetjies ook.  Só raak die gemeenskap betrokke Enige en alle skenkings en donasies is welkom - van kos tot haarrekkies. ‘Alledaagse’ items wat ons as vanselfsprekend aanvaar, het Hebron inwoners nie noodwendig nie en word dit opreg waardeer. Hul grootste behoefte is tans matrasse. Op die oomblik is daar ‘n paar haarkapsters wie so een keer ‘n maand die inwoners se hare kom sny en opknap. Daar is ook ‘n dame wat een keer ‘n week kom kunsklasse aanbied, maar indien dit op iemand anders in die gemeenskap se hart druk om hul tyd te kom gee, is hulle meer as welkom. Marius bly in die dorp, die Hebron bussie kom daagliks in dorp toe of die gemeenskap kan donasies by The Go-To Guy se kantore aflaai en ons sal sorg dat Marius dit ontvang. Opkomende projekte en geleenthede Daar is regdeur die jaar geleenthede en gebeure waar hul finansies probeer insamel en die gemeenskap blootstel aan wie en wat Hebron werklik is en doen. Daar is die 4de Mei ‘n Fietswedren en Pretloop. Daar is ook sprake van Crossfit geleenthede wat hulle graag sal wil aanbied - daar is meer as genoeg spasie. Besoek gerus The Go-To Guy se Events Calendar om op hoogte te bly van hierdie gebeure en meer inligting oor ander fondsinsameling projekte te kry.  Aanhoudende, veranderende behoeftes Gedurende die pandemie, het die Here aanhou voorsien. “As daar ‘n behoefte was en hulle het gebid, het daar uitkoms gekom.” Hebron pas aan by veranderende behoeftes deur die groentetuine op die perseel, aangesien die prys van vars groentes en gewasse so drasties toegeneem het. Dit is ook een persoonlike doelwit wat Marius wil verwesenlik by Hebron - dat hulle baie meer selfversorgend word. Die toekoms van Hebron lyk helder, met planne vir selfversorging en volhoubaarheid wat die pad vorentoe baan. Terwyl die sentrum bly aanpas by die veranderende behoeftes van sy inwoners en die wêreld rondom hulle, bly een ding konstant: die verbintenis tot die herstel en bemagtiging van diegene wat die meeste nodig het. Hy vertel van een man wat hy opgetel het wat al die pad van Witrivier, Mpumalanga af gekom het - hy het net van Hebron gehoor en besluit dat dít is waar hy moet uitkom. Hulle huisves mense van Witrand, Hope Again Recovery Centre en diegene wat uit die gevangenes gekom het en dalk sukkel om weer by die samelewing in en aan te pas. Daar is inwoners wat 18 jaar al lank reeds Hebron ‘huis’ noem, ander is al vir 15 jaar ‘n inwoner, so daar is nie ‘n afsnypunt wanneer inwoners die perseel moet verlaat nie. Op enige gegewe tydstip huisves Hebron tussen 100 en 120 permanente inwoners.  Marius het selfs al ‘n oproep vanuit Australië ontvang wat namens familielede skakel. Alhoewel Hebron vol is, probeer hul so veel as moontlik mense akkommodeer. Daar is aansoekvorms wat ingevul moet word voordat individue ingeneem kan word. So vinnig soos wat ‘n plekkie oopgaan, so vinnig word dit gevul. “Ek sien nooit dat daar beddens oop is nie”, ‘n hartseer realiteit. Hou kop bo water Daar is ‘n hele paar inisiatiewe soos veilings, fondsinsamelingsprojekte, donasies en gebeure soos Pretlope en Fietswedrenne. Hebron het hul eie sisteem in terme van betaling; die inwoners betaal ‘losies’ van net so oor die R1 000. In ruil daarvoor kry hulle drie maal per dag kos, ‘n veilige en warm slaapplek en die nodige behoeftes. Sondae “hang hulle ‘n bietjie uit” en kry lekker kookkos én nagereg. Econofoods sorg ook dan en wan vir skenkings. Deur die jare het Hebron bewys dat dit meer as net 'n fisiese ruimte is; dit is 'n gemeenskap waar liefde, sorg, en ondersteuning die fondament vorm. Van Greta se onwrikbare geloof en Marius se toewyding tot elke inwoner se persoonlike groei, tot die gemeenskap se vrygewige bydraes, saam vorm hulle 'n kragtige sinergie wat lewens verander.
