Want kom ons wees reguit: party dae wil jy net jou man se eiers platdruk. Event details vir die girls-night-out Datum: Dinsdag, 9 September 2025 Tyd: Deure open 18h30, show begin 19h00 Plek: Featherhill Hotel, Dagbreek Landgoed Uitbreiding 1133, Potchefstroom Prys: Gewone kaartjie – R220 VIP kaartjie – R300 (ingesluit: gereserveerde sitplek op 'n tafel van 10 én 'n Gesonde Seks Voucher) Kaartjies beskikbaar by: https://itickets.co.za/events/482989 Dress-up Party vibes Dis nie net ’n show nie, dis ’n dress-up party. • Mechanical Failure at Pump Station Triggers Widespread Water Pressure Challenges in JB Marks

Residents in parts of JB Marks Municipality have faced ongoing water supply issues since the beginning of August due to a mechanical failure at a key pump station. According to public notices issued by the municipality, Pump 5 at the Ventersdorp Road Pump Station , responsible for feeding the Eesterandjies Reservoirs, suffered a breakdown, resulting in significantly reduced water pressure  across several densely populated areas. Affected Areas and Scope The interruption has impacted water pressure in multiple neighborhoods, including: Dassierand Promosa Ikageng Extensions Witrand Hospital Kannoniers Park SANDF residential and service zones While the problem was initially flagged on Friday, 1 August 2025 , a follow-up notice on Sunday, 3 August  confirmed that the pump remained non-operational. The extended downtime has resulted in prolonged disruptions, especially in areas that are heavily reliant on consistent supply, such as hospitals and densely populated residential sectors. Technical Team Response The Department of Technical Services has mobilized its maintenance team to address the issue urgently. Although specific timelines for restoration have not yet been confirmed, the municipality emphasised that technicians are working tirelessly  to resolve the fault and restore standard water pressure levels. The incident highlights the critical dependence on key mechanical infrastructure to maintain daily municipal services. Failures such as this not only inconvenience residents but also raise concerns about long-term infrastructure resilience and maintenance schedules. Image: JB Marks Image: JB Marks Residents Asked to Conserve In both announcements, residents were urged to use water sparingly  and exercise patience as repairs continue. The municipality acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the disruption and thanked the public for their cooperation and understanding. Water conservation during such outages is particularly important to prevent complete depletion of available reserves. Authorities reiterated that even areas not currently affected could experience pressure fluctuations as supply lines are rerouted to compensate for the impacted zones. #TheGoToGuy #potchefstroom #potchgazette #WaterAlert #InfrastructureUpdate #JBMarksWatch

Wild Medix doesn’t just hand out a certificate and call it a day, they run the course with proper training gear and practical drills. • Weekend Service Alert: Scheduled Water Interruption Hits Meiringspark, Jouberton Extension 10 and Uraniaville

Residents and businesses in Meiringspark, Jouberton Extension 10 and Uraniaville have been notified of a planned water supply interruption set for Saturday, 2 August 2025 , as the City of Matlosana undertakes a critical maintenance procedure at the Alabama Reservoir. The temporary shutdown, intended to facilitate the cleaning and disinfection of the 17 megalitre reservoir, will affect normal water delivery across the three areas for a 12-hour window. Municipal authorities have positioned temporary mitigation measures and urged the public to prepare accordingly. What Is Happening and Why The interruption is part of routine but essential water quality management. Scheduled from 06:00 to 18:00 on Saturday, 2 August , the outage is necessary to allow crews safe and uncoupled access to conduct a thorough cleaning and disinfection of the 17 ML Alabama Reservoir , a key storage and distribution facility feeding parts of the municipal network. Such work is standard practice to prevent contamination, remove sediment build-up, and ensure that the system continues to deliver potable water within regulatory quality standards. Municipal communication accompanying the public notice explains that while the procedure is temporary, it may result in low pressure or no water supply  in the affected areas for the duration. The City of Matlosana is using the scheduled downtime to carry out the disinfection in full compliance with health protocols, after which the system will be flushed and tested before full restoration. Areas Affected and Duration Date:  Saturday, 2 August 2025 Time:  06:00 – 18:00 Areas to be Affected:  Meiringspark, Jouberton Extension 10, Uraniaville Households and commercial users in these three localities should expect either significantly reduced pressure or a complete absence of municipal water during the stated window. Water-dependent activities, such as early-morning domestic chores, small-scale informal trade, and business operations, will likely be disrupted unless advance preparations are made. Mitigation Measures To soften the impact of the interruption, the municipality has arranged for water tankers to be deployed  at strategic points within the affected communities. These tankers will provide a temporary alternative source of water while the reservoir cleaning is underway. Residents have been advised to collect and store adequate quantities of water before the outage begins, especially for essential uses like drinking, cooking, sanitation and caring for vulnerable household members. The City’s messaging encourages households to: Fill clean containers  ahead of time to cover the outage period. Prioritise drinking and hygiene needs  in stored volumes. Coordinate with neighbours , particularly to assist elderly or immobile individuals who may face difficulty fetching water from tanker points. No detailed schedule or mapped tanker pickup points were included in the initial public notice; consumers are expected to monitor municipal social media channels or local community forums for real-time placement and timing of tankers on the day. Anticipated Impact and Community Preparedness The timing, starting early on a Saturday, was likely chosen to reduce weekday economic disruption, yet for informal traders, caretakers, and families relying on regular water access, the shutdown represents a notable inconvenience. Small businesses that depend on water for food preparation or cleaning will need to adjust operations, and schools or community facilities in the affected areas should verify their own contingency stocks if activities are scheduled over the weekend. Past interruptions of this nature have seen neighbours sharing resources and local civic organisations stepping into coordination roles. Community leaders are being called upon informally to help disseminate information, ensure equitable access to tanker distributions and watch for potential secondary issues, such as sanitation backlogs or increased pressure on private boreholes where available. Post-Intervention Expectations Following the completion of the reservoir cleaning and disinfection protocol, the system will undergo flushing to clear any residual disinfectant or loosened particulates before normal supply resumes. Residents should initially expect some turbidity or discoloration  in the early hours after restoration; authorities typically advise allowing the tap to run for a short period to clear lines. If discolouration persists, consumers are advised to report it so that the local water quality monitoring teams can respond. The municipality has not provided a formal timetable for return to full pressure beyond the 18:00 target, but historically these interventions are followed by a phased ramp-up as the network stabilises. Communication and Accountability The City of Matlosana’s public notice emphasises an apology for any inconvenience caused by the planned disruption and reiterates that the cleaning is preventive in nature, aimed at safeguarding longer-term reliability and public health. Residents are encouraged to follow official municipal social-media handles for any updates, including unexpected extensions, early completion, or changes in tanker deployment. Final Thought While the temporary outage on 2 August will require advance planning and adaptation by local residents and business operators, the cleaning and disinfection of the 17 ML Alabama Reservoir is a necessary step in maintaining water quality and system integrity. Strategic preparation, storing water in advance, sharing information within the community and using the temporary tanker supply, can minimize hardship. Consumers in Meiringspark, Jouberton Extension 10 and Uraniaville should remain alert to follow-up communication for confirmation of restoration and to report any residual supply or quality issues promptly through municipal channels. #TheGoToGuy #Klerksdorp #Cityofmatsolana #klerksdorpgazette #serviceupdates

  • Potchefstroom Academy’s Annual Hair Show Goes Full Tim Burton - 24 October

A Date with the Delightfully Deranged Things are about to get strange, in the best way possible, as Potchefstroom Academy & SAAHST prepares to host its Annual Hair Show on 24 October 2025. This year’s theme? The darkly imaginative world of Tim Burton. If you’ve ever wanted to see what Beetlejuice would look like with a perm, or how Edward Scissorhands might approach avant-garde upstyling, this is your moment. Details You Actually Need to Know Date: Friday, 24 October 2025 Time: 15h00 sharp (don't pull an Alice and show up late) Venue: Lover’s Lane, Potchefstroom Academy & SAAHST Address: 59 Dr James Moroka Ave, Potchefstroom Entry: Free. Gratis. Mahala. You literally just have to show up. A Hair-Raising Homage to Burton’s Universe This isn’t your standard rinse-and-repeat salon affair. Expect hairstyles that could walk straight off the set of Corpse Bride, Beetlejuice, or Alice in Wonderland. The students behind the scissors will be channelling their inner Mad Hatters, giving life to hairdos that challenge gravity, common sense, and probably health and safety regulations (kidding – we hope). From neon greens to gravity-defying curls, nothing’s too weird or too wonderful. The idea? To let loose and get a little chaotic, Tim Burton style. Wanna Get in Touch or Share the Madness? For those needing a bit more info or wanting to stalk the organisers online (respectfully), here’s where to go: Website: potchacademy.co.za Facebook: facebook.com/potchefstroomacademy Telephone: 018-294-9000 E-Mail: info@potchacademy.co.za WhatsApp: 072-880-4147 It’s free. It’s fun. It’s completely bonkers. Don’t miss what might just be the most colourful chaos Potch has seen all year. 24 October. Be there, or risk a serious case of FOMO.

  • Weekly Pulse: From Solar Sparks to Community Heartbeats, 1 Aug 2025

Potchefstroom, Klerksdorp, Ikageng and Carletonville have rolled out a week’s worth of headlines that span politics, public health, sport, culture and raw neighbour-to-neighbour generosity. Whether you’re following a petition table, tracking a mobile clinic or cheering a junior football final, each story below offers more than a passing glance, it sketches the context, the challenges and the people driving change. National Potch Gazette — July 2025 Edition (single-story roundup) This month’s digital magazine opens with a probe into an alleged illegal guesthouse at 29 Kock Street, raising fresh questions about zoning enforcement and resident safety. It then celebrates the Love Potch  partnership with JB Marks Municipality, detailing how murals, waste-collection drives and feedback kiosks are reclaiming civic pride. Urgent calls for Witrand Psychiatric Hospital upgrades reveal crumbling wards and staff shortages, while a full-page feature applauds the revival of Ikageng Cricket Hub and PAWS Haven’s bold relaunch under new management. School sport dominates the back half of the issue: Gimmies athletes collect medals on track and stage, Volkies pupils secure a Wilson Sports sponsorship ahead of the Karkloof Youth Festival, and Saints U13 cricketers win four of six matches. A road-test of Ford’s 2025 Ranger 2.0 XLT rounds out this 15-minute read, branding the bakkie “smart value in a rugged package.” The Go-To Guy Weekly Diary — Week 30 Charlene Bekker stitches together snapshots of Potch life into a two-minute diary that feels like a brisk stroll through the city. She opens with the soulful strains of a local gospel concert, pivots to a grassroots rugby clinic that fuels youngsters’ provincial ambitions, and closes on a township football jamboree that fills dusty sidelines with cheers and vuvuzelas. Each vignette is small, but together they reveal a community moving with equal parts hustle and heart. Medical ID Cards & Wristbands In a six-minute explainer, Karen Scheepers walks readers through the life-saving logic of engraved bracelets, necklaces and wallet cards. Real crash-scene scenarios in which unconscious victims cannot speak and explains how a clearly etched allergy or chronic condition can steer paramedics toward the right treatment in the golden hour after impact. National health guidelines and first-responder testimonials back her claim: a simple tag can mean the difference between fast-tracked care and dangerous delays. World Ranger Day (31 July) Johané’s tribute piece salutes the frontline custodians of nature who patrol game reserves, fight poaching syndicates and, too often, pay with their lives. She chronicles the history of the commemorative day, shares quotes from veteran rangers who see their work as a “legacy rather than a job,” and lists global casualty figures that underscore the risks behind the romance of the khaki uniform. Against this backdrop of infrastructure fixes and political maneuvering, NWU rolls out a revamped OneProfile portal for students, and sports clubs, from rugby to athletics, push for redemption and record-breaking times. It’s a snapshot of a city negotiating progress on multiple fronts. News DA Demerger Petition (closes 3 Aug)   Local DA councillors have opened sign-up booths across town, arguing that splitting from Ventersdorp will return administrative focus, financial transparency and, ultimately, better roads and refuse services. Opponents warn the process could take years and trigger new costs, but organisers say “dignity and functionality” are worth the fight. Marketplace Fraud Spike   SAPS detectives detail a surge in below-market vehicle ads and bogus rental listings that vanish once deposits are paid. Victims share screenshots of forged papers used to build trust, prompting police to urge citizens to meet sellers only at official safe zones. NWU OneProfile Dashboard   Originally an application-tracker for matric pupils, the revamped portal now offers bursary alerts, course-matching tools and parental access, embedding itself into the university’s wider digital ecosystem. Sports Potch Dorp Rugby Derby Prep   After bruising away losses to Impala and Welkom, coaches have overhauled the back-row to counter Klerksdorp’s speed in Saturday’s derby. Training sessions focus on tighter defensive lines and quicker recycle times to reignite club pride. Potch Track Club Round-Up   Between 15 and 29 July, club athletes set personal bests from Durban’s coastal meet to Berlin’s continental challenge. Junior sprinter Lindi Mokoena’s 11.34 seconds marks her as a favourite for the upcoming World U20 trials, while masters athletes notch podiums in Phalaborwa’s endurance heat. CSA Pathway Awards   North West Dragons bowlers Thabo Nkosi, Refilwe Mahlangu and Sipho Dlomo collect national gongs, underscoring the province’s depth and the success of its development pipeline. Council Draft Land-Use Scheme (2025)   JB Marks Municipality’s new blueprint proposes mixed-use corridors that blend affordable housing with commercial nodes, alongside expanded green belts around the Mooi River. Public comment is open until late August. Youth & Leadership Update   The municipality’s learner-licence sponsorship for under-25s kicks off on 1 Aug, while newly appointed directors pledge to hold quarterly town-hall sessions for transparent governance. 24-Hour Boskop Dam Shutdown Engineers replaced corroded valves in the region’s key supply line, forcing households to store water or rely on jojo tanks. Municipal officials caution that trapped air in pipes may cause discoloured flow when taps first reopen. Community Vat Verniet Tafel Donations   What began as a single table of free clothes outside Mooi Rivier Beskerming has ballooned into a community staple. Organisers now request toiletries and blankets as winter cold bites. Weekly Incidents Digest (22–30 Jul)   Emergency logs show eight road crashes, two attempted cable-theft incidents and one veld-fire alert, all handled without fatalities thanks to rapid multi-agency coordination. What’s On (1–7 Aug)   Highlights include Potch Boys Choir’s cathedral concert, a craft market centred on recycled art and a stand-up comedy night raising funds for animal rescue. Deep-house beats power Women’s Day Reloaded at BLK Lounge, TP Kasi Restaurant spices up Die Bult with township flavours, and DeeAngel DJ turns a daytime music fest into a family affair. On the pitch, Sibanda United’s U-11 heroes clinch grassroots football glory, while municipal initiatives, from learner-licence sponsorships to land-use consultations, invite residents to steer their future. Community & Culture Women’s Day Reloaded (10 Aug, BLK Lounge)   The event promises deep-house DJs, spoken-word interludes and fashion pop-ups, free entry is meant to remove all barriers to celebrating womanhood in style. TP Kasi Restaurant @ ClubFika   Open daily on Steve Biko Street, the eatery serves kota twists, stews and chakalaka in a setting that blends township murals with minimalist tables. Owners hope to draw Bult students and locals alike. BLK Lounge Spotlight   More than a nightclub, the lounge curates Afro-contemporary décor, signature cocktails and a rotating DJ line-up aimed at “luxury that still nods to the roots.” One Night of Deep: Daytime Edition   Curator DeeAngel DJ turns a deep-house session into a family-friendly daytime picnic, complete with live painting and open-mic poetry. Sports Supatsela U-11 Cup   Nineteen teams battled across grueling group stages before Sibanda United edged Ikageng Peace Makers in a penalty shoot-out, giving young players a taste of high-stakes football and medal-podium thrills. Council Ward 19 Learner-Licence Drive   The municipality covers test fees for youth while traffic officers host safety workshops, aiming to cut unlicensed driving. News Solar SSEG Portal Live   Residents can now lodge small-scale solar applications through an online dashboard, cutting paperwork and shrinking approval windows to less than a week. Early adopters call it “a watershed for rooftop renewables.” CBD Water Outage Resolved   A burst main shut supply for 18 hours, but pre-deployed tankers softened business losses. Engineers have fitted pressure sensors to flag future weaknesses sooner. Meter-Reading Reboot   After contractor lapses left bills based on estimates, municipal teams resumed door-to-door reads, pledging transparent usage data and quicker dispute resoluti on. Sports / Community Dementia Trail Run   Hundreds circled Matlosana Mall in a 5 km loop that launches the nationwide TRACTOR Rally  for dementia awareness. Organisers link every participant to a digital memory tribute, turning kilometres into stories of loved ones. CBD Cleanup Blitz   A taskforce spanning economic development, traffic, housing and health issued 42 compliance notices, targeting everything from unlicensed hawkers to obstructive signage. Councillor Wesly Kgang says the operation will be monthly until “order takes root.” Council / Health Phelophepa Health Train   Converted rail coaches parked at Klerksdorp station deliver dentistry, eye-care and counselling five days a week. Small fees cover consumables, making the service a lifeline for uninsured residents. Sunningdale Private Hospital   Now part of Lenmed, the 33-bed facility blends general medicine with psychiatric wards overlooking landscaped gardens, fostering what patients call a “therapeutic atmosphere.” Maternal-Fetal Partnership   Indian specialists from Amrita Institute ran workshops on high-risk ultrasound protocols, leaving local obstetricians with new tools to reduce maternal mortality. • NWU OneProfile Dashboard: Overview

The NWU OneProfile Dashboard  is a secure, online portal developed by North-West University (NWU) to support students in exploring academic pathways and managing their engagement with the university. While it was initially designed with prospective students, particularly high school learners, in mind, the platform has evolved into a useful tool for a broader audience. Today, OneProfile serves not only future students but also current NWU students, faculty members, university employees, and even parents  seeking to better understand and support the academic journey. This article provides an in-depth look at what the OneProfile Dashboard offers, how it functions, and the role it plays in NWU’s broader digital ecosystem. Image: The Go-To Guy Creations Purpose and Intended Users The OneProfile dashboard  began as a tool to guide prospective students, but its user base has expanded significantly. NWU promotes the platform as a key part of its recruitment and engagement strategy. Initially centered around the Interest-Index survey for Grade 8–12 learners, the dashboard now also offers functions relevant to: Current students , who may want to reassess their study interests or explore new program pathways; Faculty members and academic advisors , who use insights from profiles to support students; University staff and employees , especially those involved in student services or recruitment; Parents , who wish to track and support their child’s educational planning. By allowing different user types to access relevant content through a unified portal, OneProfile plays a central role in NWU’s digital engagement framework. Key Features and Functionality Though the dashboard content requires login access, public information indicates its functionality focuses on personalized academic planning. Core features include: Interest-Index survey interface and results : helping users match personal interests to relevant NWU programs; Suggested academic and career paths  based on survey data; Links to program pages , open day schedules, and application portals; Tracking of engagement history , such as enquiries or survey completions. These tools are useful not only for students making initial decisions but also for current students evaluating new interests, faculty members providing guidance, and parents supporting their child’s choices. Interface and Usability NWU’s “MyNWU” branded portals use a modern, user-friendly style. The interface is likely responsive and oriented toward high-school students. For example, NWU’s Virtual Tour page uses the #MyNWU  branding and motivational messaging (“#MyNWU is more than a place where you can get a degree… you can explore new opportunities” tour.mynwu.info ). OneProfile likely follows similar branding and tone, with a clean layout and engaging copy. The presence of a JavaScript-based virtual tour also suggests OneProfile’s dashboard is a dynamic web app. In fact, the Virtual Tour page warns “This site doesn’t work properly without JavaScript enabled”. implying a single-page-application design. We can infer the OneProfile dashboard uses comparable web technologies (e.g. a JavaScript framework) and adapts to different devices, since recruiting tools need to run on phones and tablets as well. Image: The Go-To Guy Creations Technical Implementation While NWU has not published source details for OneProfile, clues point to a cloud-based, Anthology-powered solution. NWU recently partnered with Anthology (formerly CampusNexus) for its student system s anthology.com , and Anthology’s Reach  product includes portals for prospects and applicants. The NWU online application portal ( applynow.nwu.ac.za ) explicitly credits Anthology and runs on HTTPS applynow.nwu.ac.za , and the Interest-Index link uses the secure domain https://marketing.mynwu.info/ . In practice, OneProfile is likely hosted in a secure cloud environment (possibly Anthology’s or NWU’s own hosting) with common web stack components (HTML/CSS/JavaScript front end, server-side APIs). The virtual tour’s reliance on JavaScript suggests Angular or React. The dashboard probably queries NWU’s databases to pull program info and survey logic. Being part of NWU’s “digital business strategy,” OneProfile is expected to integrate with the new Nexus CRM/Student systems in the cloud . It likely uses standard web security (HTTPS, cookie-based sessions or token auth) and is built responsively so that high-school users have a smooth mobile/desktop experience. Security Measures The OneProfile dashboard is protected by a login system and served over HTTPS. Users must authenticate before accessing personalised data, ensuring that student information remains secure. NWU’s broader digital services often employ multi-factor authentication and single sign-on (SSO)  methods, and OneProfile is likely no different. For university employees and faculty who use the system for administrative or guidance purposes, proper access controls ensure that only authorised personnel can view specific data. This makes the platform suitable for institutional use while maintaining individual privacy. Integration with NWU Digital Services OneProfile is a vital piece of NWU’s broader digital engagement strategy. It connects to other platforms such as: The Virtual Tour site , where learners and parents can explore NWU campuses; Application portals , where prospective students submit formal applications; Pre-graduate support tools , used by both students and staff for planning and event booking. By offering a shared interface for interest tracking, program discovery, and enquiry management, OneProfile supports NWU’s goals of data-informed recruitment and student success. For parents and current students, it also serves as a guidance and information hub. Faculty and staff benefit by having a centralised view of student interest data, which helps tailor support and interventions. Final Thoughts The NWU OneProfile Dashboard has grown beyond its origins as a survey tool for prospective students. It now serves as a comprehensive engagement platform  for a variety of users, prospective learners, current students, university staff, faculty, and parents alike. By offering personalized insights, easy access to program information, and secure interaction, OneProfile plays a key role in helping individuals make informed decisions throughout their journey with NWU. As digital transformation continues across the higher education sector, platforms like OneProfile show how thoughtful design can serve diverse user groups with clarity and purpose. #TheGoToGuy #potchefstroom #NWU #potchgazette #StudentSuccessTools #OneProfileDashboard
