This significant achievement places Owethu among the top 11 of 53 participants selected for this exclusive training group in Potchefstroom.
A Closer Look at the EBJ North West Green Squad
The Green Squad is part of an 0/11 district tournament where a selected group of boys is chosen for advanced training. This initiative is part of a broader effort to nurture young talent and prepare them for higher levels of competition. The training for the Green Squad will be handled by the 0/12 Leopards coaches, known for their expertise and dedication to developing young athletes.
Future Training and Opportunities
In addition to his current training, Owethu will have the unique opportunity to train alongside the current 0/12A and B Leopards teams. This inclusion not only allows him to refine his skills but also to gain invaluable experience by interacting with older team members.
The 0/13 coaches will take over in the subsequent phases, ensuring that the learners receive all-rounded guidance and mentorship.As part of the Green Squad, Owethu and his teammates will also be part of the extra 0/12 C team, which competes against notable teams like the Lions.
