Art, Seafood and Chill – What’s Not to Like?
Potchefstroom is gearing up for a creative Monday on 21 April as Pothole on the Bult hosts Potch Art Day – a unique event that blends paint, good food, and easy-going music. Doors open from 9:30 to 15:00, and entry will set you back R150 per person. Not bad for a day of artistic expression, live tunes, and something lekker to chow.
A Bloom & Boil Bash
This isn’t your average paint and sip. Potch Art Day is part of the Bloom & Boil series, a vibe curated by Seafood Boil Klerksdorp, founded in 2022 by none other than Chef Ginger. What started as a delivery kitchen serving up seafood boil magic has now evolved into a full-blown sit-down restaurant – and now, a contributor to Potchefstroom’s cultural calendar.
Chef Ginger’s mission? Bring folks together over bold spices, buttery crab legs, and the kind of mussels you don’t find at the gym. With Seafood Boil opening its brick-and-mortar spot in Potch in 2024, it’s only fitting they’re behind this mashup of creativity and cuisine.
What’s on the Canvas (and the Menu)
Guests can expect rhinestone painting (a little extra sparkle never hurt anyone), while others might be more into the chill vibes, enjoying art and conversation over a glass of wine or two. If painting’s not your thing, just hang back and socialise – nobody’s forcing you to draw a flower.
There’s also a Seafood Boil meal discount for ticket holders, because what’s the point of staring at art if you’re doing it hungry? Think fresh seafood, zingy sauces, and a strong possibility of needing extra serviettes.
Live Background Music – Yes, Please
Adding to the day’s groove, there’ll be live music and performances to soundtrack your painting, eating, and general lounging. It’s a well-rounded affair – art in your hand, beats in your ears, and maybe a prawn or two on your plate.
