With Mother’s Day approaching, some are opting to step away from store-bought gifts in favour of something handmade. On May 9, My Creative Fix is hosting a workshop focused on wearable art, where participants can learn to customise their own clothing.
The technique
The workshop covers the technique of reverse appliqué. This involves layering fabrics and using cutting and stitching to reveal designs. Led by Lize-Marie, the session provides a space for attendees to experiment with textiles and create their own patterns on garments.
Those attending are asked to bring their own hoodie, crew neck, or t-shirt to the venue. The organisers provide the necessary fabrics, threads, and tools for the process. The class is open to anyone aged 10 and older, regardless of their level of experience.
Event details
The workshop takes place at 9 Reitz Street, Potchefstroom. It runs from 09:00 to 13:00 on May 9, 2026.
The cost is R250 per person, or R400 for two people. A discount is available for those booking in pairs by using the code MOMandME at checkout.
